This can happen on an individual or company wide basis. Learning to not to offer unsolicited guidance or insights is important if you are to be effective in your work environment. When you wait for others to formally invite you to guide them, rather than just jumping in yourself, you will know that you have been recognized for who you are, and your contribution will be heard and useful. Working in an environment where you are not appreciated or recognized for your talents is not a comfortable experience for you. By waiting to be invited, you will know that the guidance you are offering is welcomed, and you will not waste your own energy by meeting the resistance of others. The most basic but essential benefit of recognition through invitation is that it allows you to choose the correct people to be in your inner circle, people who will keep you aligned with your own work path and purpose. A major part of your role when invited to share your guidance is to know how to ask the right questions, without a personal agenda. Decisions for you are a simple matter of following your instinct, in the moment. This can be felt as an instantaneous intuitive resonance or recognition about something or someone, and an inner knowing as to whether it is healthy for you, or not. Your highly evolved survival intelligence alerts you to which work environments, career direction, job opportunities and people are safe and advantageous for you to work with or for. Your instinct is the only true guide for you, and it is only concerned with the now moment. You don’t have time to go deeply into and ponder the broader ramifications of your decisions over time. Decisions must be made in the moment. Wait, and the moment and instinct are gone. 10 minutes, or an hour, or a day later what was correct for you may change, and your decision along with it. This is completely normal and healthy for you, even if others do not understand it. It takes time to trust your instincts fully as you have been pressured throughout your life to question them, or to let others question your spontaneous decisions. When that little voice you hear in your head gives you a soft yes or no, however, or that impulse or feeling inside tells you to act now, it is import to listen. This decision making strategy only works in the moment, and does not repeat itself, so you must to pay attention to those instinctive alerts when they happen. It’s through these moment to moment recognitions that your instincts are connecting you to your own truth, revealing who you are, and what your role is in the business world. When you listen to the quiet signals that your instincts give you, you set clear personal work and career boundaries. Your success and well-being are ensured each time your trust your instinct, and each decision moves you along your path towards your full productive potential. You have two general Life Themes that offer you reliable signposts as to whether you are being properly recognized and invited. As an Advisor, you have the opportunity to experience either Bitterness (a feeling of not being appreciated or seen for who you truly are, or invited to help make the world a more efficient place), or Success (that feeling that you are truly appreciated and recognized for the unique skill that you bring to helping, guiding and organizing others). Waiting for recognition, waiting for an invitation, can feel distinctly different from the more common approach in career or business - be proactive and very public with your talents and skills. Advisors are not designed to guide everyone, however, and are only here to connect with those who are open to and can benefit from their guidance. There is a simple solution to the dilemma of how to find your true sense of purpose, and enjoy the recognition that you are here to have. The assimilation and digestion of information does not happen for you immediately. You are designed to allow yourself time to properly integrate and digest information and experiences. In order to do this, movement and interaction through different environments is helpful, such as spending time in public places like coffee houses, gyms, malls, etc., where the neutral interaction of others will benefit your assimilation process. You are designed for work partnership, however, not just any partner. When you are aligned with the right work partner you will feel a sense of wholeness. It is best to enter into any partnership through your Decision Making Strategy. Your co-workers, clients, employees or employer may at times process information more quickly than you, and it may feel to you as if not understanding immediately is hindering you in your work. It is to your advantage to allow others to process in their own way. You do not need to feel pressured to jump in and do something immediately because of the expectations of others. The work environment is a mix of different types of assimilation, and it is important to honor them all so that everyone can contribute and be productive to the best of their ability. Another part of knowing yourself is knowing how to determine which work situations are harmonious with your Career Design. The environment in which you work also supports your satisfaction and success. You may work best in one or multiple types of environments. All environment types that are most beneficial for you are listed below, but remember that working with your Decision Making Strategy (3) is your best guidance tool for ensuring a productive and enjoyable work life. Solo Based on your overall Career Design, you can operate in a “Solo” Environment where you are in charge of the day-to-day operations, and your own boss, as long as you have others around you that you interact with person-to-person. These people can be family, friends, co-workers or partners. Examples of this environment are: As an entrepreneur or consultant managing or servicing multiple clients. As a coach or counselor seeing different clients throughout your day. Running a business remotely or from your own private office, possibly within a larger group setting. Operating a business with the assistance of multiple remote employees or contractors. Partnership Based on your overall Career Design you can operate very well in a “Partnership” Environment where you share responsibilities with a partner or co-owner that you work with. (In order to determine whether a you and a particular partner will work well together, you might consider having a BG5 Partnership Analysis with a certified and licensed BG5 Consultant.) Examples of this environment are: Owning a business with another compatible person and running it together. Working in a consulting practice or business with a compatible person, where your duties are clearly delineated and divided based on your individual areas of expertise. You have one or more specific skill sets that you bring to the work you do, in an individual as well as partnership or group environment.  Accounting You have the skill and ability to be the record keeper, to function as the memory of the business or group. You also provide the business with the potential to collect information with the acceptance of those you are gathering information from. The ability to keep honest records that help us to know how profitable the business is vs how profitable it was is of enormous importance to any successful enterprise. With you around, there will be a true record of the details, and review of performance, that keep a business viable. Implementation You have the skill of Implementation in the now. This is the ability to take the vision and put it into action right away. You bring to a business or team the potential for creative action that can get your product or service out the door, into the hands of customers, now. With you around there is the ability to implement the vision, and make this vision public, so others can experience it and bring financial reward now. Each of the Business Skills (7) identified for your Career Design also have 6 different modes (Attributes) of operation when you’re in a group setting of 3 to 5 people. Understanding your Attributes allows you to see your specific function(s) in the group. If you have multiple Business Skills (7), you may also have multiple Attributes that will overlap. Each Attribute listed below is also accompanied by the Skill(s) it applies to in your Career Design. You may see an Attribute repeat more than once. In this case, it simple means you have multiple similar attributes. Detail, Fundamentals, Networking, and Client Relations Business Skill: Implementation You provide the possibility of Detail and Fundamentals, the foundation, for a business or group. Through the investigation of detail you are able to see the fundamentals that are needed for the Skills listed above to operate effectively and correctly with a solid logical foundation. This is the inner resource and workings of a business or group. This attribute brings a focus on the details and you are someone who can focus on and express the fundamentals and details of the business.  You also provide the possibility of Networking and Client Relations, outer resources, for a business or group. You know how to develop a network, and how to service that network, in terms of the Skills listed above, so that it operates effectively and correctly. The true influence of a business is not demonstrated to clients, the public and other businesses thru marketing, but rather by keeping the business in contact with everyone who is important – clients, suppliers, bankers, etc. You help to keep the business or group together by setting the right tone that will mitigate any problems. You also provide the ability to recognize which networks will provide the best opportunities and return from the investment of time and energy you must put into them. Networking, Client Relations, Detail and Fundamentals Business Skill: Accounting You provide the possibility of Networking and Client Relations, outer resources, for a business or group. You know how to develop a network, and how to service that network, in terms of the Skills listed above, so that it operates effectively and correctly. This attribute brings a focus on the details and you are someone who can focus on and express the fundamentals and details of the business.  International BG5 Business Institute www.BG5BusinessInstitute.com 16 --- PAGE 17 --- SUCCESS CODE 9 THE NINE FUNCTIONS   Each of the Nine Functions covered in Section 9 and 10 has a particular job, and methodology, which, along with the General Thematic (13), Strengths and Contributions (14), and Characteristics and Qualities (15) determines and contributes to how you function day-to-day and in the workplace. The key to allowing each of these Functions to operate in a consistent way that you can trust is to rely on your Decision Making Strategy. Listed below are those functions that operate for you in a consistent way. Functions that are not consistent, and therefore open to the influence of others, will be found under Shadows/Distractions (10). Survival Instincts This Function is responsible for surviving and thriving with a sense of well being in the world. It manages your instinct, intuition and taste which are processes for discerning what is or isn’t healthy for your survival. Its non-verbal recognition operates in the present moment, in the ‘now.’ This vital, spontaneous information is your intuition, gut instinct or a hunch that allows you to make trustworthy spontaneous judgments/decisions. Moment-to-moment awareness, however, means that it never repeats its first alarm. If you do not pay close attention to those little alerts immediately, you will miss the warning, which is always rooted in what is needed for survival right now. You must listen to your intuition, do what it tells you to do, and not let anyone else distract you from following your own instincts. You can then remain alert and protected, feel good, and can enjoy the benefits of a strong immune system, living fully in the present moment with a care-free but deep attunement to your awareness, and this innate intelligence. Existential awareness cannot be rationalized; it must simply be trusted. Drive and Stamina Drive/Stamina describes the consistent pressure you feel to move ahead in your work and life, and your specific way of dealing with stress. Depending on your Career Design these pressures can fuel your Energy Resource, Survival Instincts, and Emotional Intelligence. You have your own timing for everything that you do in your work and life, and can also influence the timing of others. Your tendency may be to project your pressure or stress onto others in the form of unreasonable expectations. If this powerful pressure you feel all the time is not properly guided by your Decision Making Strategy, you can become obsessive, and meet resistance in the form of the wrong kind of stress that is detrimental to your health. Conceptualization Conceptualization is your mental processing hub, which transforms the pressure of Inspiration into potentially useful information for review, research, and communication. You have a consistent, specific, and trustworthy method with which this function operates, and others do not easily influence you. You are always thinking, always processing, and may find it difficult to completely quiet your mind. You enjoy the mental stimulation, however, sharing your concepts, thoughts and ideas with others is a matter of timing.  When the timing is right, you will inspire others with your concepts, and empower the best possible result. Inspiration Inspiration is the pressure that drives your mental activity to make sense of your experiences, to think International BG5 Business Institute www.BG5BusinessInstitute.com 17 --- PAGE 18 --- and rationalize, and to understand the patterns in your world. This pressure stimulates your imagination, the unique way you conceptualize, and your need to ask questions and receive answers. You have the ability to influence and motivate others to think about the questions and reflections that inspire. Timing is important. By waiting for the right moment to share your thoughts you will have an inspirational impact. When others are open to your ideas, you have the potential to stimulate, uplift and empower others to find their own answers as well. International BG5 Business Institute www.BG5BusinessInstitute.com 18 --- PAGE 19 --- SUCCESS CODE 10 SHADOWS/DISTRACTIONS   Shadows and Distractions are the Functions and areas in your Career Design that are open to the influence of others, and thus do not operate consistently for you. The diversity of sensory experiences and the awareness you receive through these aspects, however, contribute greatly to the wisdom you develop over time and can share with others. In addition, your mind is very curious about these Distractions and can pull you away from your true work. In order for you to function productively and within your true skill set, it is best to work with the aspects shown here peripherally, and to place your focus on the functions that are consistent for you. You will recognize the nature of the Distractions from your own life experience, and can use the descriptions below as signposts to alert you when you are allowing your mind to distract you. Listed below are those Functions that distract you and operate for you in an inconsistent way. Functions that are consistent, and therefore you can trust as a place to focus, will be found under The Nine Functions (9). Overzealous (Energy Resource Function) Energy Resource describes your personal life force that empowers your ability to create, live and work. Your life force does not operate at a consistent level, however, and you can have days when you have the energy to work, and days when you don’t. You are very sensitive to the energy buzz around you, and can easily borrow that life force and end up constantly busy without every taking time to rest. Your overzealousness can lead you to overextend and give away life force that is meant primarily for you, and you can end up making decisions based on resources you are not meant to rely on. Your overzealousness can then translate into a pattern of never knowing when enough is enough about any aspect of your work or life. You won’t know when to enter into a situation, job, or relationship, or when to wait. You won’t know how long to stay or when to get out. Working with your Decision Making Strategy (3) will allow you to understand how you can connect with others around you, without exhausting yourself. It is healthy for you to stop work before you are tired, and to relax at the end of your day and ease yourself into sleep. You also need a quiet space or time during the day to allow yourself to release all of the energy you are picking up, and magnifying, from your environment. Touchy and Nervous (Emotional Intelligence Function) Emotional Intelligence describes the deeper awareness that is developed over time as you move through different levels of feelings. The dilemma for you is that you are very sensitive to the needs, moods and desires of others in your environment. This can feel wonderful at times, and very stressful at others. You are designed to take in and sample the emotional field around you, but only for informational purposes. It can be hard to understand if what you are feeling is you or someone else. You are not designed to make emotional decisions, and should rely on your Decision Making Strategy (3) to protect you from identifying with sensations such as fear, shock or anger that can distort your decisions. Confrontations can make you nervous, and you have probably developed a strategy of not speaking your truth in order to avoid potential emotional backlash. Your Decision Making Strategy can guide you to the confrontations that are correct for you to face. In fact, correct confrontations may actually be much easier than imagined, and will empower you to wisely enter into a more authentic relationship with those around you. Overcompensating and Committing (Will Power Function) Will Power describes the reliable power to survive and thrive in the business world. Two-thirds of the population does not have consistent access to this Function. You are not designed to be willful and International BG5 Business Institute www.BG5BusinessInstitute.com 19 --- PAGE 20 --- competitive, and yet you often feel driven by the need to find the courage to be willful because that energy permeates the business world, and so you try to overcompensate and overachieve. You feel driven to prove your value in the workplace, to make commitments and keep them so that your self- esteem does not suffer, and in the process you can literally wear yourself out and experience heart and stomach issues. You do not have consistent energy to support willful promises, and the healthiest mantra that you can employ is: I have nothing to prove to anyone, ever, including myself.  Relying on your Decision Making Strategy (3) will allow you to engage in those activities and business ventures that you do have consistent support for, both internally and externally. When you are not overcommitted yourself, you have the potential wisdom to recognize in the workplace around you who can or cannot deliver on a commitment.  Role Confusion (Identity/Direction Function) Identity/Direction describes your fixed and reliable sense of self, and where your life and work are taking you. This internal GPS is open to outside influence, which makes it difficult at times for your mind to know exactly where you are going, who you are, and how you can authentically move in that direction. You are not without direction, however, and there are many clues and signposts that you can watch for along the way. Only the correct outside influence, the correct environment, can keep you connected to your life and work path. An environment can be a place, a job, or a relationship, and you are able to sense which environments are correct for you by how comfortable you are in them. Finding your correct environments is matter of relying on your Decision Making Strategy (3). Your best tool and mantra is: If I am in the wrong place, I am with the wrong people. In addition, knowing and accepting that you are designed to try on different identities and roles in your life, and your work, will feed the evolution of your overall Self, and an inner sense of your overall direction and mission. They sense that you are quite comfortable simply holding inside of you what has been shared. You will recognize the right moment to share what is most valuable because others will draw it out of you. You are not concerned with being the best, which is a comparative trait; you simply want to live your true creative nature, your authentic individuality. When happily absorbed in doing “your own thing,” you are not aware that you are attracting the attention of others. It is while you are being true to your creative process that what you are doing, and how you are doing it, has its greatest impact. As you exemplify new ways of expressing your authentic self, you empower others to consider new perspectives or new ways of being in the world. You may even change their creative direction. Your creativity inspires others by example, and for your impact to be properly felt and appreciated, it must be seen or heard. This requires interaction with the world.
