Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation vii INTRODUCTION TO ADVANCED MECHANICS II A 5 Lecture Post Graduate Program This program is dedicated to the elaboration of themes introduced in advanced pro- grams during the last three years (2006-2008). While the programs for Primary Health System and Rave Psychology third-year students, as well as those taken by PHS & RP Graduates, touched on this material, the Advanced Mechanics I and II course work fills in greater depth relative to a variety of material that invited further exploration. In Advanced Mechanics II, Ra continues the exposition on diverse themes ranging from Base Orientation and Link Nodes to Variable and Capture Theory. Dream Rave Analysts, and students who have taken Base Theory, The History of Geometry, Variables course work, and Lunar and Planetary Color are those who are eligible for these advanced studies along with those who have completed year two of PHS and RP. This is a transcript of the original course taught in the Winter of 2009. Within the transcript are links to relevant images in the Illustration Library which contains the original, full-sized illustrations used for this course. ~ --- PAGE 8 --- Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 1 Lesson One Introduction Hello and welcome to all of you. Welcome to Advanced Mechanics II. It‘s exactly where I like to be. At this point in my career, there are very few intellectual chal- lenges that inspire me, that stimulate me in relationship to my work. And perhaps the most extraordinary intellectual journey that I‘ve ever had has been my involve- ment over the last four or five years in the development and teaching of Rave Psy- chology and Primary Health System. It gave me the opportunity to be able to develop Advanced Imaging and to get pointed closer and closer towards what I‘m calling Holistic Analysis. That is, the abil- ity to be able to see profoundly into the nature of a being simply from a fundamental understanding of the diagram and its database. Most of you have been with me throughout this journey. And you‘re certainly famili- ar with the layers that have been peeled off one by one as we‘ve been moving from the surface down deep into the infrastructure. When I began teaching Design in 1992, it really opened up a door. I find myself at a point in my career where these doors are finally closing. And I say ―finally‖ because it‘s a long journey. So this is one of those things that I‘ve put before both you and myself, that is, my theme for this Advanced Mechanics II. And the theme of really putting into perspec- tive the final key of being able to synthesize all of the information in the chart, and of course, I‘m referring to Base and I‘m referring to the theme of orientation. I think there‘s a great deal of deconstructing that you have to do in the sense that I have to deal with this at a theoretical level. It is often distorting when you see something theoretical that is not integrated or synthesized into a larger whole. And again, that is something that I‘ll get to when I get to next semester and I begin the three semester program of training people to do Holistic Analysis, integrating literally all of this data. The Practical Value of Base Information So, as we begin this process I want to make sure that we‘re really all on the same page. Let‘s begin with something. Let‘s begin with what could possibility be the practical value of Base information, given what you know from the surface down, the fundamentals of the design, all the things that go with Type, Authority, on and on --- PAGE 9 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 2 and on, the not-self, the layers that lie underneath, whatever the dietary regimen, the environment, the Perspective, the nature of conceptualizing, the way in which one experiences the process. We‘ve dealt with many, many, many layers of looking at this information. What can Base bring? This is really the most fascinating question of all. Think about what Base is. You‘re familiar with the diagramming of it. That is, the neutri- no going through the crystal. And we have an entry frequency, which is Base and we have the relationship of the movement within the crystal which is Tone, and then we have the exit frequency which is Color. Base Captures Consciousness So to begin with, the very, very naive beginning of this is a recognition about some- thing about the nature of Base itself. That is, it is the receptive point, after all. It is through your Base that you are penetrated by the consciousness ocean. It is some- thing to grasp inherently about the nature of Base. In other words, how shall I put this—the Base itself is fundamentally receptive and fundamentally receptive in that it establishes what we see genetically as either the genetic imperative, that is, the negative side, or the genetic resonance, the resonance being the positive side. This openness that ultimately is ingrained in the way in which life on this planet has evolved, this openness receptor form concept that we embody, that all of this is rooted in one thing and one thing only. It‘s rooted in Base. This is the thing to grasp. It‘s the deepest level about what your Base is—it is what captures consciousness. It‘s the thing to really think about, particularly when we think about your Base when it comes to your Personality Base which for all intents and purposes is the eternal you, or the eternal passenger consciousness possibility of the various incarnations that you can have or have had. When you think about that Base, you‘re looking at the way in which you have been oriented to capture con- sciousness for all of ―it-ness,‖ whatever that is. The Independent Variable has a Positional Resonance It‗s the whole thing about us. It‘s one of the jokes, and it‘s the joke that is played out through the Independent Variable, because the Independent Variable says, ―Look, I don‘t care what your determination is. What I care about is that we‘re on the right road, because everything is in movement and the road is everything. And everything is in the Independent Variable.‖ Yet, we know very well that the Inde- pendent Variable does not have its own Base. It has a positional resonance. It has --- PAGE 10 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 3 a positional resonance to those Bases. It‘s how we measure the position. That is a position. It is not the Base itself. The Design Crystal Base is here. [Larger illustration, pg. 97.] The Personality Crystal Base is here. This is a resonance field [Nodes]. They‘re different. And yet, those of you that took History of Geometry with me know that it is the combi- nation of these four Bases [Design Internal/External] that creates the actual mapping of the specific dif- ferent types of orientation, some- thing that we‘ll look into in much greater detail later. In other words, when we‘re looking at Base and the way in which Base Orientation oper- ates, ultimately the way in which we use Base Orientation for analysis, we‘re looking at something that grabs together the [Base] components either on the Design side, or grabs together those components on the Personality side. The Essence of Life Now, when you understand the preeminence of the Independent Variable, then something else to grasp is that what is set here in the Base, that this is orienting what is here in terms of the Bases of the Sun/Earth, or the Inter- nal and the Dependent Variable level that is here. I don‘t want to confuse you, but it is very important to grasp this. Everything about understanding Variable, and after all, Variable begins with this Base, everything about under- standing Variable is that the Independent Variable is the determining factor. This is where life is. Everything else is gravy. This is the essential essence of life. There is no life without this movement; none. Everything is stillborn without it. --- PAGE 11 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 4 And it is only when you have this movement that the potential for self-reflected awareness is some- thing that can emerge in a brain construct; it is only through this movement that this experiential quality that is inherent here, both in the diagonal and in the way the diamond operates, that all of this is made possible by the In- dependent Variable. So it means that the moment that we‘re look- ing at Base Orientation, and we‘re going to be looking at com- binations, that combination that draws together on either the Design or Personality side, the Nodes with the Sun, this is how the Dependent Variable gets integrated into the movement and into the life. Base Orientation Aligns One to the Correct Capture Orientation does something very, very special. Orientation brings a synthesis to what it here. It brings the synthesis. And what it brings through that synthesis is what we get through this Independent Variable. What we have here is a resonating field. Remember that the Base is the great openness in us; it‘s the great receptor. It is the archetype of reception. That‘s what Base is all about. When you‘re looking at orientation it‘s not about looking at orientation to what you are putting out as much as understanding that orientation aligns you to the correct capture. We talk about capture frequency in terms of the Magnetic Monopole, the way that it pulls the Color frequency, but there is also this way of understanding the way your Base works is that your Base is intended to be oriented so that it can capture what is the correct consciousness information for it. And that correct consciousness informa- tion isn‘t about its alignment to the stars or to the solar system bodies, it‘s that alignment that this brings, the alignment of life in our relationship to the other. Passenger Consciousness is the Recognition of Reception We are designed to be nothing but receptors. What is passenger consciousness? It is simply the recognition of reception. The magic of passenger consciousness is to be able to recognize the movement of the consciousness field through the crystal without distortion, without the distortion that the not-self Personality establishes that does not permit the vast majority of human beings to ever have access to what lies beneath. --- PAGE 12 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 5 When you think about passenger consciousness you have to see that this is just a receptive mechanism, it is a filtering mechanism. It is the very openness of us that makes us so special. Without this openness we are not able to do what we do, which is to interpret phenomena. We would not be able to do it. This is the way we‘re built. We all learned that when you come up through the ranks in Design and you start looking and learning about bodygraphs, you understand that we are nothing but re- ceptors. Oh yes, within our differentiation we have different ways in which we have certain receptors that are very open and others that are not. But the other receptors that are not open become part of our definition which means that there are receptors that are being fixed anyway. They‘re just being fixed to a limitation. We are nothing but receptors. Base Orientation: Your Relationship to the Other Where does this come from? It comes from Base. And the first thing to grasp about Base at an analytical level is that its whole thing is trying to align you, orient you so that you can take in what is correct for you. And that means the other. Base Orien- tation is literally about your relationship to the other, and the refinement of your radar, because it‘s a re- finement of radar. When in correctness, orientation aligns you physically and intellectually to what is of resonant value. Now, let me take you a step further. Ok, so every- thing—I‘m just going to work from the Design side here—everything is about the Independent Variable so the Independent Variable is the prime thing. We know that the Bases of the Independent Variable are not true Bases, but are positional resonances. In other words, they are not differentiated or determined in the way in which the Sun/Earths are, because this is truly the way in which our crystal is designed. The Mystery of Life Now, the thing to grasp that is so amazing about this is to un- derstand that this fixedness, this determination is subservient to this [red arrow pointing to Nodes]. In other words, when we‘re looking at orientation, even though we are going to look at complex Base relationships, the thing to understand is that it all takes its lead from the resonance. --- PAGE 13 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 6 I just described the mystery of life. It‘s such a beautiful thing that it‘s al- most mind boggling how simple and hidden all of that is. Oh yes, here we are determined; determined in the sense that everything about this is the development of the brain system, the brain system that is going to act as the environmental housing for the possibility of Personality conscious- ness. This is deeply, deeply fixed and determined. But that‘s not what life is. Life is over here [all Nodes]. Not only is it over here, but the experience of it both physically and intellectually is over there [both lunar and planetary squares]. And that feeds into this [both Moons]. Orienting to Our Resonance When we‘re looking at orientation, we‘re going to be looking at something very, very different. We‘re going to be looking at the way in which we are intended through our uniqueness to orient to our resonance, not to orient to our determination. This is about knowing where and how to fit in this life in the correct environment through all of these—it‘s all about Variable in the end. But it brings a very, very special value. When I introduced Variable, I cautioned everyone, and it‘s an important caution. Variable is the natural order for the nine-centered being, one which cannot be at- tained. It cannot be attained because it‘s the natural order for the nine-centered be- ing, for Homo sapiens in Transitus. It is not the natural order that an individual can step into and everything else is going to harmonically work for them. It just isn‘t like that. The value that we derive out of Variable is the value that it brings to be able to see the stages of transformation that are keys to a unique being‘s fulfillment. It allows us to see what is possible for that being, but still, that being isn‘t going to be in a Variable world in which the natural support mechanisms of their particular Variable are going to be all around them. They‘re not. So there is something that becomes very, very impor- tant to that journey into --- PAGE 14 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 7 one‘s own transformation. That is, the ability to have the orientation, that orienta- tion for the mundane plane. It‘s all about the mundane plane. I hear that from stu- dents in terms of discussions that we have about the pressures of the world that we live in, our families, relationships, all of the things that are part of the world around us. We are always navigating on the mundane plane. We‘re always navigating through WAs and Pentas. We‘re always navigating through a deeply homogenized mundane environment. And the secret is something that is really very special because the Independent Vari- able says to you that you can float through the mundane. This is not some esoteric bullshit that tells you that if you go high on top of the mountain, that‘s the way it‘s going to work. If it can‘t work in the real world, it can‘t work anywhere. It‘s right down in the nitty-gritty. What I‘ve discovered in my own awareness is the beauty of the mundane. That is, the beauty of the mundane in the sense that it is quite a thing to watch, it is quite a beauty to see. It doesn‘t mean you have to be mired in it. The Link Nodes But the ability to be able to orient on the mundane plane, the ability to be able to orient your life on the mundane plane begins here. [Larger illustration, pg. 98.] It begins with the Bases of the Nodes. And of course, the Bases of the Nodes take us to the wonder of them, and the wonder of them of course is the Link Nodes. Whenever I think about the Nodes, I begin here. And I begin here be- cause it reminds me what the Independent Variable really is. It‘s more than the sum of its parts. It is perhaps the most extraordinary mechanism that is there, because after all it is the Link Nodes that establish the ho- listic life. The Link Nodes are the agency of the Magnetic Monopole. It is what is holding us together in the illusion of our separateness. It is through the Link Nodes that the Design and Personality actually establish a relationship to each other. It is the only place within the database itself, in the absolutely deconstructed being, that there is actually a relationship between the Design and Personality. --- PAGE 15 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 8 We do get to see that in charts, when you get to see holistic connections between the Personality aspect and the Design aspect of a defined channel. But that‘s some- thing else. That‘s the next layer of that. At the database level, the only thing that holds these two things together are the Nodes. It‘s the only thing that holds them together. The Way in which the Illusion of Existence Emerges This is where the life is constructed. It is constructed on these Nodes. So that when we‘re looking at Link Nodes we are looking at something that‘s really remarkable. We‘re looking at the very keys of the way in which the illusion of existence emerges. Now, I like that. I‘m a 5/1; I‘m a very practical being. I‘m sitting here with my el- bows leaning on the desk. I know that the density of this illusion is quite remarka- ble. And yet at the same time, I know that it is so fragile that it could disappear in an instant. It‘s built on almost nothingness. It is an incredible thing. And when you look at the magic of what life is, if you want to see the magic of life, here is its magic. And the magic is there in the Nodes. The Nodes are the story. We‘re pulled together in a moving geometry, the moving geometry of the concep- tion, the moving geometry of the Personality Crystal being called into the womb, the moving geometry of the birth. This is all moving geometries. And this is the life, the unfolding. These incredible imagines of fetuses over the whole gestation process be- ing seen in speeded up motion. This whole movement—it‘s movement. It‘s one of the things that Einstein understood, this whole thing of movement and time. It is something to grasp. Our lives unfold in this movement and it‘s all held together here. That‘s why when we get to the place where we‘ll start when we come back next week, to begin to look at anal- ysis, we‘re going to start with where you have to start. In oth- er words, in order to be able to understand orientation, the orien- tation begins with the resonant orientation. Think about the di- lemma of that. In order for Base fre- quency to function correctly, Base fre- quency has to move without distortion through to the Tone --- PAGE 16 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 9 to the Color and it has to be captured. It has to be captured by the Magnetic Mono- pole. Now remember, capture frequency is determined by the holistic frequency of the being. If you‘re not-self, there is no way that any of this, from the Base or Tone or the true Color, is going to be something that you‘re going to be integrating into your moment by moment system. It‘s just not going to happen. This is what not- self does. Not-self cuts us off from the cognitive level. Not-self gives us the distor- tions that are there in the transference of Color. Design Operates Differently than Personality So, the first thing to recognize— that‘s what I meant, because I‘m going to take you into analysis directions and I want you to be very careful in all of this. The way in which this is going to emerge here—it‘s so interesting to think about this level. And to recognize something that the De- sign operates differently than Personality. It‘s one of the themes of today. You can see that in the diagram here. Here we have the 3rd Base in the cen- ter, this is the Design configuration. Here we have the 5th Base in the center, this is the Personality configuration. Resonance: Who Should Be in Your Life, Whose Life You Should Be In Everything here in terms of the nature of the vehicle itself is about the form principle and the form principle in its movement, and this form principle in this movement with its possibility for consciousness. The Link Nodes bring us the story. And what we‘re going to be able to see is that being able to analyze from this [nodal] level first, this [de- pendent variable] is secondary, is to be able to understand what this resonance points towards, because it‘s this resonance at this [nodal] level that determines --- PAGE 17 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 10 who should be in your life and who you should be in the life of, and they‘re not nec- essarily the same thing. There are two modes here. One mode is the way in which one takes in the other and the other mode is the way in which the potential of outer authority can come out. Again, we‘re talking about the potential of the nine-centered being. So, it begins with resonance, everything is about the resonance. Base Matrices for Design and Personality Let‘s get to the second thing that we need to cover this week, this difference [left, difference between the design and perso- nality] that is here. I have an interesting graph for you [below, larger image pg 99.] I will give you a moment just to look at that before I go into it. What we‘re seeing above here is the Design configuration, what we‘re see- ing below here is the Personality configu- ration. What we‘re looking at are the Base Matrices for each. That is, the design matrix and again here you can see the 3 is there in the center. Again, here you see the 5 in the center. But what‘s very important, what I want you to think about because I want you to be able to keep— obviously you get to download the image—I want you to be able to keep this information organized in this way in mind because we‘re going to be referring to this a lot as we move forward. Because what we‘re going to be looking at are the ways in which we integrate the information, the Base information itself, and the way we integrated it in terms of the Design and the Personality. Again, remember the Link Nodes are going to be our key to being able to do that. And I will show you the technique for being able to do that once you have transferred the Bases --- PAGE 18 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 11 as we went through in the History of Geometry. But I don‘t want to digress here; I want to get to the point here. Ok, everything is about orientation. So, what are you oriented towards? Everything about the way in which these layouts operate is that the movements, the orienta- tions have qualities in and of themselves. And that the orientations are going to change because you're going to have differences between the way it's constructed for the Design and the way it's constructed for the Personality. Differences between the Design Crystal and the Personality Crystal I think the first thing to grasp in this, if you take this in really, really deep, what you're really seeing here is the fundamental difference between the Design Crystal and the Personality Crystal. Now, they're very different. What we know about the Personality Crystal is that the Personality Crystal is something that is, for all intents and purposes, eternal. In other words, it is able to survive literally tens of billions of years. It is something that has that potential. When we're looking at the Design Crystal, what we know so clearly about the Design Crystal is that it only operates over a very limited time movement; in other words, the period of transformation of a form from its conception to its death. In other words, the Design Crystal is something that is part of a decaying process. Everything about the Design Crystal is that the Design Crystal in and of itself has a limitation, and the limitation is that it can only operate for so long. Every Design Crystal has—how shall I put that—they all have timers. Again, it‘s the form principle. Some forms are relatively eternal, relatively. That is, the inanimate forms that go through various mutations over extended time periods. But in the living form prin- ciple, the Design Crystals will find their biological equivalent that will be control me- chanisms of the longevity of the form itself. The Design Crystal inherently is fragile and very different because of that from the Personality Crystal. What we know about the Design Crystal is that it is dependent on fixings. The Design Crystal is not going to function well unless there are fixings. In other words, you can see that in dietary regimen. Dietary regimen is not about this or that; it‘s about something being fixed. When you go on the Personality side there is no such thing. In other words, there's no fixing at all. In other words, there are fundamental differences that are there between the Design and the Personality. And here you can see them at their root. Now, there is ex- tended material on any of these combinations of descriptions that you're seeing. I've selected these because I think that they give you the foundation to start with in or- der to understand the qualities that are there in the Bases that we're going to be dis- cussing in terms of given designs. --- PAGE 19 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 12 The Design/Personality Crystals: Resonance Operates Differently So, let's just take a little journey here. Let's begin with the center out from the Design. Everything about the 3, this is the Objective Base. You can see it over here, but you'll notice later that within the con- text of the Personality, this just becomes an identifier [image to the right, lower left corner]. In other words, my body, there- fore I am. It's not the same as the body. So, don't confuse that. On the Design side [image to the left], it means that the way in which resonance operates is dif- ferent. For example, on the De- sign side there is a resonate rela- tionship between the 1 and the 2. We can see that this is about ma- terial. There is this resonant rela- tionship. We do not have that re- lationship between the 1 and the 2 on the Personality side. We don't. They're in separation from each other, if you'll remember that keynote. That is, Bases on either side of the center, these are separations. I want you to begin to think about how different the crystals are and how different their resonance is. Because again, the only way --- PAGE 20 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 13 you're going to be able to make sense out of it, the only way we're going to be able to synthesize it is that we've got to go through a hierarchical process of seeing what is the dominate theme and then looking at what the secondary theme is. The Design 1: Reactive/Perspective All right, so let's begin. Let's begin with the 1 and the 2 because this is where we started. The 1 is the Reactive. In terms of the way in which it operates as orientation, this is a Perspective orientation. In other words, it is going to be a focus on taking in from a certain orientation. It's going to be very, very specific. We're going to see that Perspective within the genetic conti- nuity. You'll get to see how that comes alive in somebody's design. The most fan- tastic thing to think about is that this is where we're programmed; all of us. Every single aspect that we have, it all starts at the Base. This is the bedrock of our pro- gramming. So, there is going to be this genetic continuity that is going to flow through to the surface. The Design 2: Spirit/Integrative All right, so look, we have the Perspective. Now, this is the Reactive. And the Perspective on the other side we have the Integrative and you can see we have the theme of Spirit. Now, this is the 2. You can see over here the 2 within the Personality context as Evolution. Think about this for a moment. The integra- tive spirit leads to the evolution of mind, be- cause that's basically what it's about. Basically, you follow the way that moves. In other words, if you take the 1s and the 1s, you can see the same thing. That is, it is this Perspective that leads to that unique Individu- al movement. It's coming out of here. Its psychological mirror is over here. But the re- lationships are all different in the mix. There is no direct connection to these two and we'll talk about what difference that makes. --- PAGE 21 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 14 The Design Nodes: The Differentiated Quality for the Being It's to begin to understand that the moment you're looking at any of the Bases from the Design and you look at the other side at the Personality, you begin to see the inherent relationship to each other, and again, always begin- ning with the Design. What we're going to see is that when we begin with the Design Nodes, when we begin with that configuration, that's when we're really seeing what is the differentiated quality that is there for the being. It's like looking here to the center. We know that everything at the core of the design—because again remember that it is the Objective that is the synthetic Base for the whole phenomena, it's all about the form principle. It's all about this form principle that has a trajectory. It's trajectory. All Forms Exist because of the Illusion of Movement Again, the thing to understand, if everything stands still everything ends. The form itself, all forms only exists because of the illusion of movement. We're nothing, after all; we're atomic. We're nothing but holes, spaces, huge spaces. It is this incredible movement of everything, the whirling electrons. It's this unbelievable movement of everything. How fast we move in space, the 4 to 500,000 kilometers an hour that our particular solar system is traveling around the edge of the galaxy. It's all this incredible movement. This is form. And life—your orientation is your trajectory. Your life is rooted in that. When it gets to the other side, yeah, it becomes the Personality identification with the body. It becomes the essence of being. "Oh, my goodness, I have a body," says, the Personality, "I am so excited." Thank you very much. Without the body there is no ride, there's no joy, there's no nothing. Without the body there is no life and it comes with the rules. The body is the life and life rules the body. --- PAGE 22 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 15 We are Nothing but Receptors That's what orientation teaches you. We are nothing but receptors. "Witness the lilies of the field, they do not toil." We are just re- ceptors. And as passenger consciousness, if you can grasp that, you can really, really let go, because at the deepest level, this is where we are. The beauty of realizing it, that is, consciously realizing it, is the deepest of surrenders, the surrender to the journey of correctness, however deep you go in your journey. The Progressive Manifestation, to resonate towards the Spirit, to resonate towards Pers- pective, to resonate towards Manifestation. And that Manifestation, this is the emergence of self, it's the emergence of ego, it's the emergence of "Geez, I can do things. Let me build a world. Let me build buildings," whatever the case may be. It's all about resonance. All is Resonance We're designed to resonate to certain things. We resonate at practically every level that matters for us in terms of life itself. Think about it. Go back for a second. All of that is resonance [Nodes and Lunar and Planetary Squares]. All of that oper- ates through positional re- sonance; all of it. This is the brain and this is the Per- sonality mind consciousness coming out. But it's be- cause of all of this, and all this is not fixed, not fixed in this sense. All of this just resonates, or not. That's what it means that we are choiceless. What it means that you can only surrender. And the complexity, as you well know, in any of these aspects, whatever it may be, you know; well, maybe you don't. --- PAGE 23 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 16 Subjective Timing It's interesting the way things work. Subjective Timing—when you think about what Base is interested in, what Base brings out in us, what comes together as our trajec- tory, this Perspective, the Spirit, the Manifestation, the Timing, that's what our bodies are for. It's what they're for. It's what's so magical about them. It's what's so magical about trajec- tory. Something that we under- stand at the Personality level in terms of the way in which the end of transference can lead to the correct trajectory in terms of the way in which Personality consciousness operates, it's all about trajectory. It's built into us. And everything about our ve- hicle, everything about that ve- hicle is about that trajectory be- cause trajectory is built on all of the other things, the physical nature of the body, the combi- nation of the metabolism sys- tem, the way in which the neural system operates, all kinds of things, the pure posi- tioning, that combination of Timing and Manifestation, the nature of force, the right timing to perceive. Oh boy is that something. Without Orientation There is No Receptivity It's all about the magic of what it is to be a form. Here's the Personality stuff: Mind, Ego, Body, and Individuality. And in the end you've got this "hey, here I am. I think I'm terrific, or not." But a very different resonance, resonance that is there for the way in which the passenger consciousness is waiting for it. Outer authority means nothing if you don't have the orientation, because without the orientation there is no receptivity. There are no receptors for your outer authority. And of course, it‘s a dilemma for us because we do not live in a natural order. It's always a dilemma. --- PAGE 24 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 17 Bases Offer Extraordinary Signposts What I like about mechanics is that it gives you not simply the ability to be able to see, but the ability through the seeing to transform what you see into a useful tech- nique, into something that becomes a signpost. Everything about becoming aware as a human being is about the recognition of signposts. It's everything. There are fundamental signposts for every step of the process. And signposts are so useful. That is, it gives you a sense of assurance that you're on the right track, that you're moving in the right direction. Bases offer us an extraor- dinary signpost. They do. And a signpost that can be synthesized into a recogniza- ble technique, what we do with, for example, transference or distraction, the ways in which we can look at and begin to grasp various ways in which we are either being pulled correctly or incorrectly. That is, through the imperative or through resonance. To be alive in the passenger consciousness is to be so attentive to what you're reso- nating to. It's life. I've gone through a very interesting process, because I was born as an Ego being, being able to disassociate myself from the phenomena of my Ego body, my humanness, to be able to watch it, to be able to see it, because from the point of view of passenger consciousness, from the point of view of the passenger, from the Perspective of the passenger, the vehicle and its world is alien. It is. And everything about the nature of the crystal is like the snowflake. It has its unique cut. There is this specific possibility that is inherent in every crystal, that possibility that we anthropomorphize as outer authority, that possibility that we look at in terms of the well-being derived out dietary regimen and environmental correct- ness and all of these things that are part of the knowledge. Seeing It's only when you can recognize in your own process the receptiveness of existence, what it means to be us, what it means to understand that all we have to do is take in correctly, that is the magic. It's what Strategy and Authority brings to anybody as a beginning. The start of this journey is to get out of being always in your mind for your trip so you can begin to slowly develop the awareness to see. The more you see, the further you move in your journey, the deeper you move in your journey. In the end it's all about seeing. The Perfection of Trajectory And because everything begins with the penetration of the Base, that everything— awareness and all of the accoutrement that go with it—starts there. This is what --- PAGE 25 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 18 we're about. It's something truly to grasp. It's our story, to see. So everything that we're going to be looking at, all of this orientation material is all about getting to a place where we can synthetically point to somebody and point in the right direction. This is a deep, deep orientation, an orientation that both places you in the right tra- jectory for your vehicle, but also opens up the possibility of your perfected presence, that perfection of personality that comes out of the perfection of trajectory. The Monopole and the Moon You get something incredibly amazing out of that. And it all goes back to the Link Nodes. This is where the story begins. For me it's still the most fantastic thing of the mechanics of the bodygraph. I was always into Monopoles. The Monopole is remarkable because it's the key to understanding just about anything. But to bring it down to its microcosmic level, to see the way it operates within the form, to see how it operates is just amazing. And that the Monopole not simply operates through the Nodes, but the Monopole operates with a deep, deep connection to the Moon it- self, that connection, obviously because the Nodes themselves are positional pheno- mena of the Moon. And it is the Moon's gravitational nature that creates the medium for life on this planet, in fact keeps the ball rolling. The Link Nodes So, there is nothing more remarkable than the database than looking at the Link Nodes and looking at the Link Node bases. Yes, we will see that we always have to come back to what is determined. We have to come back to what is the differen- tiated potential in a life, but first and foremost it is the life itself. And it's under- standing that the moment that this orientation is correct, what it really means is that you're being held together correctly. There are a lot of people where you can see the conflict, par- ticularly people who are early in their process in Design, the con- flict between their Design and Personality. The Design is be- ginning to bring a certain ease into their process and their Per- sonality is still deeply caught up in the struggle. This frequency, this spinning illusion that we are built on, this is the frequency. When we're correct it is perfect and everything resonates through. And then we become the real instrument of the se- --- PAGE 26 --- LESSON 1 Introduction Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 19 rendipity of this peculiar evolutionary track. The marvel of it, after all, is that we can rise beyond the demands of the form itself, to live in a sense separate from the phenomena, and yet, without missing anything. This is what we're here for. And we're here to share that. Once you break through and you begin to see the depth of the control mechanisms of the existence of any form, there is only one place to stand. It's to stand back and to see what glory there is in that seeing, because this is what we are about, it is what you are ultimately about. The Final Key So, in beginning this journey of ours together, I wanted to make sure that you have a real sense of how profound these Link Nodes really are, how mysterious—they are mysterious—these are really ex- traordinary instruments. And in grasping them we have the final key. We have the key to the way in which all of this integrates to- gether, and that we are capable of doing real Holistic Analysis. In the end, there are two things that a Holistic Analysis will begin with. It will begin with the Vari- able and it will begin with the Link Nodes. That's where you first begin to meet a life at a ho- listic level. It was a pleasure to share that with you and to get the ball rolling. I'm certainly very pleased all of you participating in this. We will have an interesting journey. To all of you, you take care. And until next time, bye for now. ~ --- PAGE 27 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 20 --- PAGE 28 --- Advanced Mechanics I is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 21 Lesson Two Design Base Orientation Hello and welcome to all of you. We‘re going to get into some interesting things to- day. As you can see, the subject today is going to be the Design. I will do the Per- sonality next week, and then I‘ll show you how to integrate the two levels of Base Orientation together. But today we‘re going to begin with the Design. Everything about what we‘re looking at is connected with Variable. And I think this is the first thing to grasp about why Base Orientation is a deeply important ingredient in any kind of synthetic grasp of a being. Obviously, Variable is at the core of the way in which the possibility of a nine-centered being to fulfill their process is arrayed. That is, the four transformations, and the various things that we know about the nature of Variable. Va- riable itself, at least it seems from the way in which you are all trained, seems to arise mostly out of what the Tonal influence is, or the Tonal architectural influence, that is, the cognitive influence. It is Tone, after all, that orients the way in which Left-ness and Right-ness is going to operate. Base is the Originating Imprint So, we tend to see Tone as the instrument that establishes the nature of Variable. Obviously, it does. There‘s no question about that. That is the key mechanism. But again, when we‘re looking at Base, we‘re looking at the originating imprint. In other words, everything having to do with the nature of cognition is something that has to be seen within its relationship to its Base and to its orientation. So, we‘re actually getting to the very bottom of the analytical tools. One of the things that happened to me along the way is that I had to start from the surface and work down. We‘re finally at a place where you‘re at the bottom and we can actually begin to go the other direction now, to take all this information and bring it upward. --- PAGE 29 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 22 Resonance Determines the Life When we are looking at Variable, the first thing for us when we break down the Vari- able components, the Internal and the External, is that in order for us to really grasp the way this works—it began last week with me trying to illustrate to you that de- spite the fact that it is in terms of the Sun/Earths that you‘re dealing with the actual crystal frequency, the reality is that it‘s resonance that determines the life. In other words, the resonance of the Nodes, the way we understand it in terms of the Independent Variable, is where the life emerges. It is along this plane that the life unfolds. It is the directional value, the environmental value, the potential of the quality of life, the relationship with others, all the things that are going to make up the nature of the life can be found here. From last week‘s discussion, it‘s important to see that we‘re going to put a lot of em- phasis in dealing with the Design side. We‘re going to pay a lot of attention to these two particular Nodes. And when you‘re looking at these Nodes you‘ll see right away that they have two different keynotes. [Larger illustration, pg. 100.] The Link Node and Prime Node Now, those of you who took History of Geometry with me will be familiar with the second keynote, which is—most of you are familiar with Link Node now—the Prime Node. Fundamentally here we have two Nodes. Those two differ- ent Nodes and the way in which they operate are very different. The Prime Node never changes. That is the Node in its correct position. --- PAGE 30 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 23 The Prime Node has always been there. It‘s not the Link Node; it hasn‘t made the shift in the movement. What you‘re dealing with here is the actual design Node that remains on the Design side. Now, this is the Prime Node. So the same thing is going to be true of the Prime Node on the Personality side. Again, this is strictly a reference to what is the Independent Variable and the Prime Node is always the Node that is stable. It is not the Linking Node. It‘s not the shifting Node; it‘s the stable Node. Now, the thing that is so important about the distinction between the Link Node and the Primary Node is that they have different responsibilities. So, as a basic to begin with, let‘s look at the Prime Node and think about the nature of what it does. The other thing is that when you‘re dealing with the distinction between the Link Node and the Prime Node you‘re also dealing with the distinction of where they are in terms of the bodygraph itself, and because this is about working from the bottom up, ultimately seeing where the Nodes are. I‘m not talking about Nodes generally now. I‘m talking about in this particular case the specific difference in placement between the Link Node and the Prime Node. Sometimes the Link Node is going to be in an entirely different hexagram, which means the likelihood that it‘s going to be in an entirely different center, which changes the way in which ultimately that function can be understood. So, again, it‘s very, very important to see that there is a basic distinction. The Prime Node Orients the Brain System to the Life When we‘re dealing with the Prime Node, the Prime Node is stable, the Prime Node never changes. The Prime Node is the key in relating to what is the brain system. In other words, basically what it does is that it orients the brain sys- tem to the life. Now, that‘s very interesting to think about. It‘s not the brain system dictating what the life is going to be. Again, even at the biological phys- ical level you can see that mind is not designed to run the show. It isn‘t. What‘s designed to run the show is our capacity to resonate to what is good for us which is something you cannot do unless you‘re operating correctly. This is what it‘s really about. --- PAGE 31 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 24 So, when we‘re dealing with the Prime Node we are dealing with the fundamental relationship absolutely essential for the brain system to be able to align itself to the way of life. Now, that becomes something very special. In other words, the brain system has to align itself not simply to the way of life, but as we well know to the nature of the environment, to the quality of the environment, and so forth and so on. This is a deep, deep key in being able to have the brain system function correct- ly. The last four years with the intro- duction of Primary Health System and Rave Psychology, the introduction of the entire substructure at a deep level, one of the things that you get to is to a point of recognizing something that is absolutely essential to grasp. There is no way that our assumptions about the way in which the life works, and I speak about the not-self and the way in which all of that is put forward, there is no way that any of those assumptions have anything to do with the way things, in fact, actually work. The other thing is that with this introduction, because this knowledge is available, people hear about Primary Health System. They hear about the possibility of the di- etary regimen and they equate that within their own homogenized context of it‘s a diet, it‘s this or it's that, or whatever the case may be. There is also an assumption that if you accomplish any particular stage in the transformation process that that in and of itself is going to bring completion. The Natural Development of the Brain System For example, let‘s take something that‘s really fascinating to think about. I have a great difficulty and the great difficulty that I have is that at this level you really see the disadvantage of having been born conditioned. And I don‘t want to depress any- body, but my job is to lay out the science of this. This is for children that are going to be born and are going to be raised correctly. One of the most difficult things to deal with is an intelligent being who has the right fractal being confronted with what transformation is really all about. In the nine- centered being, in the true nine-centered being, that is, for the child raised correctly, it is the Strategy and Authority and the dietary regimen that dominate the first 30 years. As a matter of fact, it isn‘t until the Saturn return that this becomes a priori- ty. And it is only at the Saturn return, in the alignment of the being to the correct environment, that there is the possibility, through the Link Nodes, for the Perspec- tive that is going to lay the foundation for awareness. --- PAGE 32 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 25 Now, think about that. In order for all of that to take place, the natural development of the brain system, Strategy and Authority and PHS, that takes a long time. I‘m the first student of Human Design and I‘m in my 23rd year. It‘s still not even the 30 that‘s there. That is, the 30 that is a part of the basic foundation of what it is to be a dif- ferentiated being. And this is all about simply giving authority to the vehicle. That‘s what it begins with. The PHS enhances that process by cleansing the system, but the sys- tem still isn‘t ready. In other words, the brain system that operates in that first 30 years is a developing system. It is imma- ture. It is something that is truly developing. It‘s only when this stage opens up rooted to the Prime Node that it aligns itself, the brain system, to the specific envi- ronment and the specific way of life. Now that sets up the brain system to be the foundation of what can take place on the Personality side. It‘s a very different thing when I‘m trying to find a way through the mechanics to be able to provide all of you and anyone who comes to this knowledge with techniques that are going to make it as possible to go as far as one can go, whatever that can be, because there is no rule, after all. It‘s all about differentiation. Everybody has a potential to go in a certain way in all of this. PHS has to be Coupled with Environment So, one of the things to grasp about entering into PHS is that entering into PHS has to be coupled with environment. When I say that, I say that in the context of people who are decondi- tioned. Ideally, if you go through your first seven-year cycle, that is, the first seven-year cellular cycle where you get to clean out the ma- jority of the deep conditioning that you came in with, by the time you go through those seven years, the best thing you can do is try to speed up the process. In other words, take advantage of what is here, take ad- vantage of what we understand from --- PAGE 33 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 26 the dietary regimen and the environment because this is the only way that you‘re going to bring to the Prime Node that you have its effectiveness. After all, it has a tremendous responsibility. Within the Prime Node is the sole responsibility of aligning this brain system. And everything about this brain sys- tem is going to be aligned to qualities of articulation and ex- pression. The 33rd Gate is a gate in the Throat. It is a gate that demands its expression. So, the very value of that, the real de- construction of that is much fur- ther; that is, seeing this first of all within the line context, and seeing this within the context of the relationship to the other side. Again, we‘ll get to all that. But I want you to have a feel for the distinction between these two because there is a huge difference. The Brain System Needs to be Aligned to the Prime Node In order for the brain system to operate cor- rectly, the brain system needs to be aligned to the Prime Node. Now, you see something very interesting here in terms of Base Orientation. That is, you‘ve got 1st Base here, 1st Base here and 1st Base here. Obviously, they‘re opposi- tions to each other. You‘ve got an immediate hookup here that is at work. In other words, an inner resonance that is there. So, there is tremendous potential for this brain system to be able to align to the environment if the environment is correct. Remember what happens when you‘re not-self. This gets all cut off. This is what not-self does; so, the whole formula changes. Inherent in this design is a certain ease that you can see there between the Prime Node and the Dependent Variable aspect. In other words, the deep resonance that is there in the 1, an indication that if this being were to be in the right environment, that that right environment would trigger a very effective brain system and the way in which the brain system operates. --- PAGE 34 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 27 What you‘re going to get to see is that we‘ll go to what I showed you in History of Geometry, that is, the different relation- ships that are inherent in this 4. But what I‘m introducing to you now is a way to de- construct this to a much deeper level so you really understand what Base Orienta- tion does in terms of framing the way in which everything in us is going to operate. This is the entry frequency of the con- sciousness field. The neutrino entering the crystal, this entry frequency, is the beginning of the whole story. The mo- ment that this is aligned correctly, everything is aligned. The Link Nodes are Aligned to the Monopole First of all, we have the Prime Node and its specific relationship with the brain sys- tem. Then we have the magic of the Link Node. We already know from the basic introductions to Link Node that it is the Link Node that holds us together in the illu- sion of separateness. The way in which it holds us together is that it links, literally, on either side. The thing that‘s fasci- nating is that I talk about how the Nodes have a unique relation- ship with the Magnetic Monopole that‘s here in the G center. Now the thing that‘s really im- portant to understand is that it is the Link Nodes specifically that are aligned to the Mo- nopole. Remember that the Prime Nodes‘ primary relationship is with the brain sys- tem. To keep it simple for you: Something has to hold the Dependent Variable to the Independent. --- PAGE 35 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 28 The Nodes are the Glue that Holds Us Together This is all about glue. I don‘t mean to be banal; but, it is. The Nodes are about glue. It is the Prime Node that holds the brain system to the physical life. It is the Link Node that aligns the vehicle not simply to the physical life, but aligns it to the potential of Personality and self-reflected consciousness. This is the glue that holds us together. You can see the function and you can see the relationship to the Monopole. It‘s the Mono- pole that has this attraction frequency. It‘s the Monopole that holds everything together in the illusion of its separateness. It is the Monopole that is expressing its power through the Link Nodes and their ability to be the expression of Monopole. One of the things that‘s really fascinating when you think about it is that the Design Internal is the expres- sion of the Design Crystal, and the Per- sonality Internal is the expression of the Per- sonality Crystal. The Link Nodes are the ex- pression of the Mag- netic Monopole. These are the elements of being. This is the pri- mary element of be- ing. It isn‘t to dis- count the power of the Prime Nodes, because without them there would be nothing to hold together because they hold the functions together between the Dependent and Independent Variable. The Node pulls all this together. --- PAGE 36 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 29 The Link Node Aligns the Life to the Other When we‘re dealing with the Link Node, aside from the obvious, that is, the obvious that it is the linking and so forth and so on, what is very important here is that where the Prime Node aligns the brain system to the life, the Link Node aligns the life to the other. One of the things that I showed you briefly in History of Geometry is how by looking at the Base Orientation configuration you can have an idea of those kinds of people that are interesting to you, those kinds of people that you can influence, and so forth and so on. Everything about these elements, everything about whether the brain system operating in the correct envi- ronment is going to be able to estab- lish the qualities necessary in the Link Node to attract and deal with the others, there are all these different elements that are in here. The thing to grasp is that if you look at these two Nodes and you just think about what they do, then what you have is the whole story of existence, be- cause this is where it‘s all built. I‘m a Monopole aficionado. The Magnetic Monopole for me is this unbelievably fabul- ous thing. It just is; this dark matter instrument. One of the things that I think is so interesting about it is that it‘s clear to me that the Magnetic Monopole has a very ob- vious energy transference capacity. The Monopole in holding everything together in the illusion of separateness is actually holding together a deeply, deeply complex frequency. After all, this is what we‘re dealing with. We‘re dealing with this fre- quency. No Link Nodes, No Life It is this frequency that establishes the life, the glue that holds us together because no Link Nodes, no life. Just like that for every- thing: No Link Nodes, no life. This is what it is all about. This is the holding together. It goes back to the basic concepts of juxtaposition. What the Link Nodes do is they juxtapose these two sets of imprints and lock them to- gether in this illusion. It‘s all done by the Link Nodes. --- PAGE 37 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 30 It is the Nodes from the Design side Perspective that are going to establish whether or not your brain system is going to function correctly. It isn‘t about what your natural potential is in that brain. Think about that. You feed that brain the right PHS, you clean up all that stuff, you get it already. But if it‘s not aligned to the life it means the brain system isn‘t associated with what is correct for its potential. There is no point taking some geek mathematician and taking them into some kind of abstract thing that has no rules. They‘ll go nuts, even though they‘ve got a great brain. But they‘ve got a great brain for something, for something specific. Again, it‘s about taking the concept of differentiation and really grasping what differentia- tion means. You have a differentiated brain system which requires a unique envi- ronment in order to be able to express itself. If you‘re dealing with Hardscape beings then you‘re seeing very clearly that this is a rigid demand. You really have to make sure. It‘s easier for landscapes simply in that it‘s a much broader. There is much more laxity in the nature of one‘s relation- ship to it. It‘s like me living in Shores. Well, I‘m not right beside the shore, but I‘m on an island and it has the same benefit. The Need to Understand Environment Again, one of those things I noted with my students the other day in one of the classes talking about deconstruction, is that to really be able to do synthesis one needs to have a very, very good grasp of environment in terms of being able to de- construct the basic values that are there in terms of the way in which environment operates. Because what you‘re going to see is that this alignment to attunement to your environment is what sets up the real potential for the cog- nitive possibilities on the Perso- nality side, which is the brain system aligned to what is correct for it, aligned to the environ- ment that is correct for it. And then the work of the Link Node, again aside from the illusion game, the work of the Link Node to resonate to those others. Now, what‘s interesting about that is that you end up with a social resonance out of the Link Node and you end up with a much more brain-oriented, stimulating-oriented rela- tionship ultimately through the Prime Node. But we‘ll talk about that, because there are different ways in which they operate depending on what the Base Orientation configuration actually is. --- PAGE 38 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 31 Base Orientation All right, let‘s take another step here. [left, larger illustration, pg. 101] You can see here the Link Node orientation to the other; here the Prime Node aligns the brain system to the life. What we‘re looking at here, though, is something else. That is, we‘re looking at the way in which this operates within the Base Orientation itself. There are many dif- ferent kinds of orientation. You can see here [below, larger illustration, pg. 102], for example, the different kinds of bi- nary: Binary Separation, the Singular, the Focus, the different kinds of Focus. In other words, there are different ways in which the Orientation is going to operate. Each of the ways that it operates comes with a different interpretative value. But today's not the day that I want to get into that inter- pretative level. I want to begin to show you how you orient your understanding relative to whether you're dealing with the Link Node or you're dealing with the Prime Node. Before I do that, let's get back into the alignment here. We're dealing with the Design side, so we have the Base formula on the Design side. You can see that we have the 1 and the 2 [pink stars], and we have the 4 and the 5 [blue stars] as the cor- ners, and then in the center we have the 3 [yellow star]. Of course, that being the Objective, being the Body, this is the center in terms of the orienta- tion on the Design side. In looking at that orientation, what we get to see is that once we have the Link Node over here [South Node Personality], we see that Link Node belongs here [pink arrow] and of course we have our Prime Node and our Prime Node belongs there [blue ar- row]. We also know that both of the Base Orienta- tions are going to be 1s as well [Design Internal Base 1]. They're actually sitting in here [where blue arrow points], if I can put it that way. --- PAGE 39 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 32 The Binary and Binary Separation This is called the Binary. I think it's obvious what that is. The Binary and the Binary Separation are one of those things that are so essential. They're the foundation, basically, of dualism. The way in which dualism operates in the world because re- member for those of you that took Base Theory, carrying a Base is also away in which we carry the instruments of the Maia. That is, all of us together, all of the Bases being penetrated by the neu- trino ocean establishes the very na- ture of the Maia. Each of us are kee- pers of the world in which for our time on this plane we maintain a cer- tain aspect of the Maia through the way in which our Bases operate. When we're looking at this level we're beginning to bring it to the sur- face. The Binary indicates there are going to be two areas of relationship. One of the things to understand about Base Orientation is that the orientation is aligning you to the other. In other words, it's aligning you to the pos- sibility—when I say "the other" I should be much more general because I don't want to confuse it specifically with the Link Node. The whole outside world, rather than a specific other, the way in which we deal with the outside world, the way in which the potential is in us to resonate to that outside world. Remember, resonance is everything when it comes to being able to fulfill the poten- tial of the life. It's the other side of the genetic imperative. It's the other side of be- ing conditioned. It is this attraction to what is good for you. It is the perfection of our process. Now, ultimately when you're looking at Base Orientation you're looking at an alignment that aligns you to those that are fractally going to be receptive to you or to whom you are going to be receptive. In other words, it sets up relationships, and it sets up relationships that align different aspects of the Base configura- tion and align these forces together. So, for example, there is always going to be this relationship between these two. This is what they're really inter- ested in. These are core elements in that sense. This is not going to be the big sto- ry for them. It's not. Of course, that means that there is a tendency there, for example, that will ignore the body. There are tendencies in there because of what's not in the orientation, --- PAGE 40 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 33 what they are not connected to. The other thing is that it's very obvious, particularly in this case, that you see that the Link Node and the Prime Node can only be inter- preted relative to their function. This Prime Node is about the Establishment of Perspective So, let's start here, and let's keep it at a simple level. We're dealing with the Prime Node. We know that the Prime Node aligns the brain system to the life. So, every- thing about this Prime Node is about the establishment of Perspective. It's very, very specifically oriented towards Perspective. Now again, you can see other keys that are there. And when we look at the analytical values of this we'll be able to look at these keys in relationship to their design and other elements in it and begin to see which aspects are really going to be those that dominate. All of these possibilities are there inhe- rent in that 1st Base. But what particu- lar value shines is something else. Again, differentiation is an extraordinary thing. You can have a very strong 1st Base Orientation, a very strong Prime Node 1st Base. And you can be somebody who mostly can operate through this [image to the right], as an example, or mostly operate through that. In other words, there are different subtleties in the way in which the uniqueness of the being is defined. Of course, this is an orientation towards uniqueness, because this is what is going to be so important for this brain system, this brain system to be able to establish its uniqueness. And when it's in the right environment that potential for the uniqueness is obviously going to be there. That alignment that is a natural alignment that's going to bring this possibility of resonating to what will support and promote and all of these things that are going to help establish that particular uniqueness in the be- ing. Now obviously there is a social context to that. It isn't the primary context. But this being that is going to have this strong pull towards establishing its uniqueness is also going to have an influence on others. And those others that are going to have in their alignment 1st Base will orient to these beings, will orient to their possibility, will orient to the possibility of their Perspective and so forth. --- PAGE 41 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 34 When you get to the Link Node, you're actually getting to the social dynamic. Think about that. Here is the Link Node; it's the Integrative and ultimately what we're dealing with is trying to find a Role in life. Not only trying to find a Role in life, but through finding that Role in life, to be able to express one's Character, one's Nature, one's Spirit in terms of the nature of the keynotes that are there. Resonance Again, this is about resonance. Remember that when we're talking about the Link Node or the Prime Node we're still talking about Nodes that resonant. These are po- sitional aspects. So, this is about resonating to those beings that are going to enrich one's sense of Spirit, that are going to support one's particular Role. I think it's so important to see that after all these years of working in Human Design that when you get down to the Base and you begin to see the Base like this you be- gin to see that it's actually framing who you are. It's actually placing who you are in context. Not only is it expressing the kind of brain system you have and the way in which that brain system needs to align itself to the life, but also what that physical body is going to be attracted to, what it's going to be interested in, what is going to move it. And by understanding the underlying themes of the Bases, just the basic underlying themes, like in this case with the Uniqueness or Role, to see this within the Design context you can see very clearly that the whole instructual manual, because Variable is the control panel of the Design side, that all of this is set. Everything else is going to be a nuance of that. What do you think their trial and error is going to be about? [Internal 3rd Lines, Base 1] Their trial and error is going to be about this [circled bases 1 & 2]. And it's going to be particularly focused on this [Base 1]. Because it's the way it's going to unfold. When I first started, because I started on the surface, I knew that when I took this journey deep, deep downward that one of the things that would have to become recognizable was just how choiceless all this is, deep, deep, deep, deep. --- PAGE 42 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 35 The only place where there's choice is in the not-self, the homogenized world, the assumption that you are not limited by the package that you ride in, that you don't even think you ride in it. You're not quite sure what it is, as a matter of fact. Most human beings don't. If you put them in that space where they have to look inwards and try to figure out why they're here and what they are, they don't do that. They'd rather go back to anything mundane than having to deal with the essence of what it is to be here. At the very entry level and it's only logical, at the very entry level the story is laid out. And remember what it's laid out for. What an interesting thing to think about. You look at the true Base of the Personali- ty Crystal. This is as ancient as ancient can be. Every hu- man being carries the same Personality Base, regardless of incarnation. It is the crystal that marks you. It is the de- fining essence of your being. And yet, it's over here. It's over there, the eternal pas- senger. And you can see from all of this that everything again begins here [design side] and goes across [Indepen- dent Variables], all of this to make it possible for this aspect [Personality Inter- nal] to actually be able to function purely. Because you see, if you're looking for outer authority, it's here [Internal Personality Base]. Again, we'll get there next week, but you really need to grasp some- thing about everything be- ing able to survive the not-self world, to come to yourself, to discover passenger consciousness, to be able to be aware as a passenger. --- PAGE 43 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 36 The Refinement of Passenger Consciousness This is the story [Independent Variable]. It always goes back to the same thing. If the brain system is not aligned to the life, which means that the life has got to be aligned to its way, that if they're not aligned, if this is not aligned [Nodes], if the Perspective is not correct, that brain system in its alignment will not be stimulated by the right forces, will not resonate to those things that are going to make the difference in its life, will never open up the possibility to be able to experience the true essence of the Personality Base Orientation, the es- sence of what we are and why we're here. And the only reason that this exists [Personality Internal Bases] is the possibility that it can be fulfilled through this package [Design Internal and Inde- pendent Variables]. That's what it's all about. Everything about the re- finement of passenger consciousness is rooted in the alignment of the physical vehicle to what is correct for it. It goes back to my discussions about the dilemma that I have faced over these last years. I never had this di- lemma in the beginning when I was introducing Human Design and basic analysis. I never had these kinds of problems. I didn't have to deal with it. The surface is so obvious. You strip away all of this and you just give me a body chart without anything underneath and I'm going to be able to tell any human being anything they would ever want to know and need to know in the moment about what will work and not work for them, and so forth and so on. But that's because existence is on the surface. And in working with the surface with conditioned beings who were born conditioned, who live most of their life condi- tioned, this was a way in which they could be shattered out of that process, that they could be introduced to the possibility of Strategy and Authority and the experiment of getting in touch with their essence. But that's very different from the way the knowledge was given to me. I sat for days after the end of that experience and just shook my head. How was that supposed to --- PAGE 44 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 37 work? How are you supposed to be able to bring everyone—there are students of mine who have asked me for years, I took a long time to introduce all kinds of things in Human Design. Nobody was ready. I don't know how many people are ready now. The knowledge has evolved to a point where the complete layout of what's possible for a nine-centered being is here. There isn't anything missing. The True Nine-Centered Life And yet at the same time, what's being laid out is the true nine-centered life. I have my deep concerns in terms of the process and as the process is developing now in Human Design, for those beings that are ready, that it is correct for them to pursue the knowledge through each of its levels. It isn't correct for everybody. It isn't. I think for many people who have been in Design a long time, certain elements of the deepest levels of this knowledge are not things they can embrace. Again, it is so important to understand that this was given to me for those who have not yet come into the world so they can be raised correctly. So, it's very different for us. I think that one of the things that I get to, and I've been approaching this, I think all of you know that from the way I've discussed these things over the last year or so, is that by getting to this level of Base, I can't mask the fact that without this there is no "this." We can't. It's just so obvious. And this is the dilemma of Human Design and the fact that it is fundamentally antisocial. It just is. It is fundamentally antisocial. I don't think Human Design people are antiso- cial with each other. I've seen too much evidence of the fact that they deeply enjoy being with each other. But that's for something very different. The fact of the matter is that this is a very alone process. And in and of itself an alone process already creates tensions with others. It is an alone process that de- mands a great deal of discipline and rigidity. It just does. It demands honesty and an integrity that most human beings don't have; an honesty with oneself, and an ability to make those decisions and to make those decisions correctly that allow one to enter into this process fully. PHS and Environment From the beginning of introducing Strategy and Authority, I had to find a mechanism to be able to help people to not only find what their true decision making authority is, but to free them from the power of the mind. Everything about the experiment in Human Design is this shift to the Design. But this is what's essential. It's not just the shift to the Design. If you only give a child coming into the world its Strategy and Au- thority you're not raising it as a nine-centered --- PAGE 45 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 38 being because a nine-centered being has a certain way of life. It's a way of life that has yet to develop, obviously. We‘re still very young. But it's a way of life. It's a way of life that's rooted in not simply just the dietary regimen, but it's a way of life that is rooted in the dietary regimen married to an environmental sensitivity. These bring conflicts in the real world. The conflict of the demands for aura security, your own space, your own sleeping space, the demands of Primary Health System regimen in that the social dynamic of breaking bread with others and these kinds of things creates dilemmas within families, within relationships, between associates. It is not one of those "let's do lunch" kind of things. The moment that you align yourself to environment, you also disconnect from other people. The moment you really align yourself to what is your environment, what you'll see that it changes is who is going to be in that window that you're going to have contact with. So much about being able to establish awareness—and again I am a form principle teacher in order to free the Personality consciousness. And you cannot free passenger consciousness until you free the vehicle. The vehicle has to be correct. Signposts to See How Well Your Alignment Is At this level, that correctness demands a very, very deep disciplined approach. So, one of the things that I want you to think about as we go deeper into the Link and Prime Nodes and the way in which they operate is to see that this opens up certain signposts for you to begin to see how well you're aligning yourself. In other words, how well your own alignment is going, both your alignment in terms of the brain sys- tem and the way you can measure that. By the way, one of the things you will see is that the measurement is going to be expressed the way in which that 33.4 is going to operate. There are keys here that we can bring entirely to the surface. One of the things about understanding the Nodes is that anything having to do with the Nodes you can automatically associate with the whole being. We talk about how the Sun/Earth represents 70% of our programming and of course that's absolutely true. But it's not 70% of our life. It's 70% of our programming, our Personality conscious brain system program. But the thing to really grasp is that the moment you're looking at the Nodes you can interpret anything. In the Link or Prime Node you can bring it immediately to the holistic view, because that's what it does. And particularly in the context of the Link Nodes, it's the Link Nodes that hold all of this together. --- PAGE 46 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 39 In other words, I'm going to show you a certain kind of—pardon my language—but a certain kind of profiling. I don't mean to confuse things. But it's something to see that this particular aspect [Design South Node] has a very, very specific kind of qual- ity to it, a quality that needs to be associated with whatever the profile is and whatever the cross is. Again, because this can be related to the being as a whole, it means that environmentally, for example, just to be very simple, the Retreat environmen- tally is ultimately going to be something that is deeply, deeply important to this being. It just is. And the Retreat that is rela- tive to whatever their particular environment is in the way in which that operates, but that Retreat speaks for the being, the whole being. How the Link Node and the Prime Node Interprets the Holistic Life The Link Node speaks for the whole being in its relationship to the other. Here in the Prime Node it speaks in relationship to the whole being in terms of whether or not there is a proper alignment between the brain system and the way in which the life operates. So, what we're looking at is a new formula that is going to be an inter- pretative tool. In other words, a way of being able to learn things from these four elements [Nodes], because unlike the Sun/Earths which are bound to each other, what we're going to see here is that each of these is a very, very specific ele- ment that we can use in a certain way in terms of presenting it in terms of holistic analysis. In other words, to be able to bring the inter- pretative values that we see here relative to what that is, relative to the Base, relative to the Orientation, and so forth and so on. But understand that this then can be interpreted for the holistic life. So they become very, very signifi- cant tools. --- PAGE 47 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 40 What fascinates me is that as I go through the process I see how each element in the substructure has a dif- ferent very profound quality of magic, in a way. You look at the Bases and the Bases say that this is what holds us to- gether in the illusion of our separate- ness. You look at Tone and Tone says the illusion is going to look like this. You get to Color and you get to see that life is nothing but transference, distrac- tion, movement of frequency that Color is the core of the frequency dilemma that leads back to the Monopole. When you think about my crystal illu- stration, you have the neutrino stream which is here and the entry frequency is the Base. You have the Tonal frequency on the inside, you have the Color frequency that's the exit frequency. So, it starts with the Base and where does the Color go? The Color is captured by the Mono- pole that takes us back to the Base and the way in which it operates in terms of the orientation through the Nodes. In other words, this is a full circle. This is the whole thing enclosed. So, what we get out of that is that we have a Dependent Variable in which we have the profile and the cross, and then we have an Independent Variable and this lays out specifically the themes for the life. The cross and the profile is all about the theme for the Personality, the theme that the Personality is here to embrace. But this is the key to the holistic life. And when this is operating correctly, that's when everything else can operate just perfectly. The Focus is Here That's where I started in my journey. It was understanding that what I had been given was a way of discovering unique differentiated lives, to be able to express the absolute perfection of what we're here for. Mechanically it's possible. But until these things operate correctly—and you see, for us it's a dilemma because we're always cleaning, we're always getting rid of the shit. There is always this stuff that's hang- ing on. It's totally different for somebody who is raised to this in which it's not something one thinks about or has to deal with, but it is the natural flow of their life. --- PAGE 48 --- LESSON 2 Design Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 41 We're making up for lost ground. So, if you're on this journey and you're going to take this journey as far as you can, this is where you must focus. And what you get to see as we move through this process, particularly when we enter in- to, those of you who will participate in Holistic Analysis, where you will have the ability finally to be able to do this kind of analysis, first of yourself, to re- ally be able to have these points and to be able to understand how they deter- mine the way in which your life unfolds, and only unfolds, obviously, if it's cor- rect, because again, it's so easy to get cut off from everything that is below the surface. All that takes is the control of the mind to distort the life and you have no chance of being able to get to the es- sence that is there beneath. There is a lot to synthesize. It's interesting because this summer, though it's not officially announced, I'm going to be doing a Holistic Analysis event to prepare my- self for the training program. I'm going to be doing a lot of these analyses and I've been working over the last four or five months with integrating all the various levels because there are certain things, information that will have to be added to the next upgrade of AI. I've already created a list of all kinds of things, additional keynotes and material to incorporate. But the thing is that like everything else having to do with Human Design, once you understand all the components and you know the steps necessary, you can see it. The beauty of all of this information, the beauty of lunar and planetary resonance, the beauty of all of these aspects, the way in which life is experienced, all of this, finally we get to a place where truly we have a deep and profound holistic perspec- tive on a being that touches everything. So, from that point of view, it's incredibly exciting. All right, so pay attention to Link Nodes and Prime Nodes; put that back into your head. If you don't remember that, take a look at History of Geometry. I think you'll find that rather helpful because I'm moving over quite a few things. Ok, so to all of you, you take care. Next week we'll take a look at the Personality side and that‘s a mind blower. So we'll see you then. Bye for now. ~ --- PAGE 49 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 42 --- PAGE 50 --- Advanced Mechanics I is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 43 Lesson Three Personality Base Orientation Hello to all of you. Before I get into today's discussion which is truly fascinating, I want to share with you an experience of mine today. I guess one of the things that's really made it possible for Human Design to work right from the very beginning was the demands for technology. I can remember what it was like when I first started and tried to do calculations. The New Animated MMAI Software The Human Design calculation is actually very complex, particularly the Nodal calcu- lations. And how many inaccuracies there were when I was first starting out, and how dependent we were on the level of programming and all of these things. The whole development of Human Design has really run parallel to all kinds of technolo- gical advancements that have taken place over the last couple of decades. It is something that I embrace fully in my work. Witness where we are in the environ- ment of the JAM, which is just one of those incredible things. So today was a very exciting day because today was a culmination of many meetings over the last year between myself and Asi Farran who is our IT Director, our pro- grammer. It all had to do with the Maia Mechanics Advanced Imaging and where we're taking it to the next level. Because of all of the multiple layers of information, aside from the structural or the sub-structural information inherent in the Variable, there is the information of lunar and planetary square, the way in which all of this operates through resonances, harmonies, dissonances, our ability to be able to map through the planetary squares, both the diamond and diagonal functions and all of these various things. We've been working stage by stage on various ways to approach the information in terms of how to display this information, how to really achieve what is my goal. When I begin Holistic Analysis, the one-year program, the goal is to be able to teach people how to synthesize from the single visual database. All of this is deeply com- plex. The other thing is that when I had my experience and I was introduced to the body- graph, I first saw it three dimensionally. It's simply the way I received that. And in terms of the way in which I was able to develop basic graphics with the skills that I --- PAGE 51 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 44 had and relative to the resources I had at the time, the only thing that was possible was to lay out a two-dimensional graphic. I began to develop with Mau Cattaneo, our Art Director, an animated version of the bodygraph in three dimensions, which by the way is truly an incredible thing to see. There are only a few of us who have actually seen this now and it really is remarka- ble. Not only that, but it gives us an opportunity to be able to show the movement of energy and channels and all kinds of things that are truly fascinating, and to be able to observe the graph from the various angles. In many ways, in deep ways I think it will influence the way you look or think about the bodygraph. This combination of these two things, that is, the demands of all of these layers of information and my goal of trying to provide PHS and Rave Psycholo- gy graduates with an extraordinary state of the art analytical and diagnostic tool, to- day we settled on developing a fully animated program. It is really something that is incredibly exciting. Literally, you're going to be able to run your cursor over the da- tabase and be able to get all kinds of things, alignments, mappings, automatic movements of the Link Nodes and so forth and so on, and all of this in an animated field with a fully animated bodygraph. So yes, I'm very excited about all of that. We're really going to be able to create an extraordinary tool for working with this knowledge. I thought I'd share that with you. Personality Base Orientation All right, let's get down to the business of Personality Base Orientation. [Larger illu- stration, pg 103.] Really, what we get to today is one of the most important keys to analysis itself. Again, going back to the graph here; but, I'm ac- tually going to bypass this and not repeat this, the Link Nodes and the Prime Nodes. Here we're going to be looking at the confi- guration with the Link Node being the South Node and the Prime Node being the Personality North Node. I want you to think about the way in which you take deep know- ledge and you bring it to the sur- face. Everything about the na- ture of Human Design—it's been a fascinating trajectory for me to have taught this knowledge from the surface down. And what you ultimately get to see when you teach from the surface down is that no matter how deep you go, what you discover deep below is embedded somewhere in the surface. --- PAGE 52 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 45 Base Orientation: Understanding the Nature of the Life Ultimately, everything gets played out through the surface. This is the holistic phe- nomena. And it gets played out through very specific agencies, the same specific agencies that have been part of your education from the beginning of Human Design, in other words, the basis of a gate and a line. Because this is preparation for holistic training, to begin to understand the way in which Base Orientation—before we even look into the dynamics of the particular orientations and how those orientations im- pact us, which I will look at next week—the first thing we have to work with in Base Orientation is the Link Nodes. Base Orientation is there to be able to establish cer- tain ways in which we can interpret and ultimately be able to find diagnostic assis- tance being able to understand the nature of the life. Now, the nature of the life is lived out here. This is where the life is lived. This is one of the most important things to grasp about what it is to surrender to the form principle. The form principle is embodied in what is the Independent Variable, in this case, embodied in the Personality Nodes. This is where this being, this con- sciousness, this passenger is thrust into a certain kind of movie. This is where the movie takes on its nature, what we call Perspective, or View. It's where it takes on its nature. [Larger illustra- tion, pg. 104.] It is the nature of the movie that determines the concep- tualizing, the kind of stimuli the passenger consciousness is going to deal with, the kind of serendipity of where it is born and what kind of a culture, under what kind of circumstances, all the various things that are going to play out. This is where the life is. It's what the Nodes represent for us. This is the life story. This is the journey that one takes. This is the form principle in movement. It is your particular vehicle story. And it's the story, obviously, that's held together holistically by the work of the Monopole through those Link Nodes. The Prime Node Determines the Personality View Now let's think about it for a moment in terms of interpretation. Let's begin with something very basic. Let's begin with the Prime Node. What we know about the Prime Node is that it does not shift. In other words, it's not the Link Node. Its re- sponsibility is not a relationship to the body. Its responsibility is a relationship to the conceptualizing capacity. In other words, the Prime Node determines the Personality --- PAGE 53 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 46 View. Now think about that for a moment. Here's the View. We have a 2nd Color View and all of the things that we under- stand about those particular variations on those themes of Perspective. But I don't want you to look at that from that Perspective now. I want you to understand some- thing. Whatever any of the six basic Views may be, they are going to live themselves out through, they're going to work through the frame and the frame is the 19.2. And the interpretive value—what is going on here in this 19.2—is the thing that is establishing the potential of the conceptualization. Let me give you an example. Service: The de- dication of personal resources as a result of ex- ternal contact. So, what we're dealing with is a theme in which the Perspective is to see things within the context of service. Not only to see them within the context of service, but in fact through what one sees to be drawn into being of service to them. Now, think about the difference. Let's say that you live in an environment where the streets are filled with the homeless and starving. You can end up being drawn into being of that service. In other words, your Perspective is going to establish a direc- tion that you're going to take. It is a direction that is there around you given the environment that it is. And it's going to be conditioned by the 19th Gate and what that 19th Gate is and the way that 19th Gate works. The Surface Conditions What You Can See Here in this particular aspect of this split [next page], what it means in that context, this is where the Perspective is being established. And what you know is that you cannot, once you see the 19 and you realize the 49 is there, everything about being able to truly work with this knowledge is to be able to integrate any single level. It doesn't matter where in the substructure, to be able to integrate that level to the surface, because it naturally and logically will find its way to that surface. But in the end, it's the surface that conditions what you can see. It's the surface. --- PAGE 54 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 47 No matter what we stand from substructure, ei- ther on the Design side or on the Personality side, it allows us to understand certain modes, certain strategies, the transformations, all of these various things. But it does not represent the holis- tic being or the way the ho- listic being operates. This 19 is a database function in iso- lation. Here it is not. Here it is emotionalized through its connection through the 49th Gate. And you can see in this context it is very strong because it is both unconscious and conscious; obviously, the unconscious and con- scious in terms of the Nodes, but also the reality of the 49 as well. The way in which this works emotionally, the way in which we understand it on the surface, this is tribal, and its main force is need. Then you get to see that the way in which this service is going to operate is that looking out and seeing what's out there, one is going to see the community, one is going to see the problems that are there, or the lack of resources that are there and get pulled into that. This is what affects the way in which conceptualizing is going to take place. The Link Node Aligns the Perspective to the Environment When you're looking at your Personality North Node, you're looking at the only gate and line that you can use as an interpreter for conceptualizing. It‘s not the 19.4 here, not the Link Node, because the analytical value of the Link Node is its relationship to the vehicle is a totally different thing. The Link Node aligns the Perspective to the environment. That alignment to the environment, the 4th Line here, is The Team Player, the 19.4. The social dynamic, the social environment is something that is going to be very, very important. Again, I'm just operating on the surface in order to benefit that Personality View. They work differently. We know many, many things about it in the sense that there is all this substructure information that is underneath. Again, I will be working with this data much deeper, so I just want to key you in various places. But, all of the information that we have underneath flows to the surface and it flows out through a line and then through the gate and then through the possibilities of that gate. --- PAGE 55 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 48 Only then are you going to be able to take these values and actually see the way in which they are intended to operate. Again, this is only one limited possibility. There are many things that have to be considered. The lunar and planetary square, where the experiential phenomena is going to take place, is going to feed the Perspective, that those values, the resonances between them and so forth and so on, all of these things become part of the mapping. One of the most fascinating things today was the way in which we simply figured out through the animation how to animate this so that we can create instant mapping. If you want to see the resonances to the 2nd Color of the Personality Node, you're going to be able to see the resonances instantly throughout the database. If you want to see the harmonics you will see it instantly. If you want to see the dissonance you'll see it. The Movie Metaphor In other words, to be able to see all of these possibilities of the way in which the in- formation moves; but in the end, it's why way back it seems now in your education we did chains. It leads to the line. It's the thing I find so fascinating. I love my me- taphor that it's all a movie. It's for me a great metaphor. The lines for me are lines. They really are. They're lines. It's one of those things that is so obvious. I'm a lifetime movie buff and you can tell a bad actor or actress in a moment, in a breath. The great ones you don't even know they're acting. You're just carried away in whatever the drama happens to be. It's the magic that's possible for any human being. That magic is the way in which the lines are expressed. What we get to see, what we understand from beneath the surface is the nuances that are waiting to be expressed through those lines. The lines themselves remain the same. How many actors have quoted Hamlet, have performed that role? Thousands, I assume, tens of thousands, I assume. They're all saying the same lines: ―Whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and ar- rows of outrageous fortune?‖ But what's behind it? What gives it life? What gives it its art, its beauty? We Live Life through the Lines This is all about frequency. We all have this unique possibility to bring a differen- tiated interpretation to the line, to all our lines, to the magic of our role, to taking over of one's cross, to the living out of one's perfection. We all share lines. There are, after all, only 384 and we're 7 billion human beings. We're all those actors and actresses at those auditions repeating those lines over and over again trying to fill them with life. --- PAGE 56 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 49 The irony is that as a form, as a life form, everything for us is our frequency. It's a frequency. This is the catch-22. The irony of the Monopole; the Monopole is such an incredible thing, such a powerful force. It holds us together in this illusion of sepa- rateness and yet what it holds together it cannot control. It does not. It cannot control its frequency. It cannot. This is where the magic begins, this is life. It's the life that emerges out of the jux- taposition that the Link Nodes make possible, this phenomenon of life that we breathe and live through these gates and lines and channels. We live it out through these lines. All of that goes back to something so simple, so incredibly simple within the context of how complex all of this and everything else is. It goes back to Strate- gy and Authority. This is where the whole thing begins. It's where the whole possi- bility begins to begin to get attuned to your nature. Motivation, Transference and Distraction These lines, you've lived these lines all your life. And yet, you've lived them condi- tioned like you were constantly being instructed how you could live out that role, how to express that role. In the homogenized world, because the homogenized world is cut off from the purity of the exit frequency of Color and lives with transfe- rence and distraction, this is a world in which the frequency is not there. It's all dis- torted. The transference is constantly pulling everyone to a motivation that is not correct. It's like giving an actor/actress a set of lines and saying to them: Here's your moti- vation. And the motivation is totally off. It's not the right motivation for those lines. It's not correct at all. It isn't going to work, and they can't deliver it because it isn't going to work. The introduction of method acting, this Stanislavski, helping actors with finding their motivation—it‘s in us. It's not about finding it; it's there. It's wait- ing. It's waiting for us to allow it to be there. Most human beings live so much of their life in transference. And what transference does is that it distorts the very values that are there in the Color. It just does. This is a theme that is constantly trans- ferred to desire. And desire isn't supposed to be what's underneath the delivery of those lines. It's not. We're given a role in this life. The moment that you're given a role, everything about that is your ability to be able to deliver. And you cannot deliver in terms of the art of your life unless you're correctly motivated, unless you can see correctly. It's only then that you elevate those lines to art form, to your perfection, to your un- iqueness. It is what it's about. This is the great struggle. The great struggle is with mind. Mind's a bitch, you know. Mind just doesn't want to let you go. It doesn't. It's all about mind. And it's so easy for mind to be distorted by conditioning. It's just so easy. And it's what everybody grew up with. It's what everybody was conditioned to. --- PAGE 57 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 50 If you're going to live out the magic of these lines, it can't be the homogenized version. It isn't going to work. The beauty of what it is to understand the depth is to know that you can't get there until you get through the sur- face. You can't. It's where most human be- ings are. The beauty of all of this—I love all of this stuff. It's wonderful to show what the true mapping of a being is, but I want to tell you, this being, please, is not-self, homoge- nized, caught in distraction. Here is somebody who just thinks that they see probabilities, probabilities for where they can express their desire. Those probabilities for desire just ends up being who they are and it's not who they are. And when they deliver those lines, you're not moved. You're not. Human beings to begin with have a rather boring script, don‘t they? If you listen to enough human beings talk, the formulas of interaction and communication are deeply, deeply repetitive. We live in a deep homogenized plane. It's not like you can understand what's going on down here [Base Orientation] and some- how that's going to change what's going on here [body- graph]. What's going on here [bodygraph] is all about how correct you are. That begins with Strategy and Authority, PHS, Environment all the way. It begins with the refinement, with the cleansing, because it's only then that you really begin to live them. It's one of these interesting things about the judgments that people bring to certain things. It's like detriments. I love my detriments. I do. I appreciate them deeply. I can remember when they were very, very difficult and uncomfortable for me in my life. And now I see how perfect they are. It is the same process. It is this understanding that the generic of the line doesn‘t matter. That is just a tool for us to be able to frame something. But, it's the magic that's underneath. When it comes to the Personality, the only way that the Perso- nality can align itself to such magic is that it has to know that it exists and it has to experience it. This is why transference and distraction are such important keys in Rave Psychology because they begin to train the mind to open up the possibility of the passenger consciousness. --- PAGE 58 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 51 Here is somebody who is not here to be motivated by desire. So the moment when they're watching their mental movie, the moment they see desire sticking its finger in the pie, that's the moment that they are recognizing and that recognition is ac- tually opening up their awareness possibilities. This is when you begin to step back from Personality consciousness. The Passenger Consciousness is to Observe the Personality Most people think their Personality consciousness is who they are. They do. But it isn't who you are. It's the by-product of this form principle. The way the Personality operates is something that's obviously deeply graphed and deeply dependent on the form, on the brain system, on all of those other things. It is the passenger con- sciousness that is there to observe the Personality. And not in the sense that one is distancing oneself because it's not about distance. They're different things. The moment that you catch yourself in transference, who's catching it? This is pas- senger consciousness. Your Personality is absorbed in its trip. But it doesn't mean you have to be blinded because your Personality is absorbed in a trip. All Personali- ties are absorbed in a trip. It's about seeing it. When it comes to the mind, these tracks that are here, the ways in which disinfor- mation can be interpreted, no matter where we go in all of this, every time that you can demonstrate something to the mind, that you can lay out phenomena for it to observe, it will observe it. This is the thing. This is what passenger consciousness is all about. It's about the potential of cognitive awareness, deep, deep, cognitive awareness. It begins with the disengagement from Personality consciousness as the be-all and the end-all. Passenger Consciousness is an Alien Thing I've tried to express in juxtaposition theory the understanding that—some people might take that oddly—that we are truly alien. That is, passenger consciousness is an alien thing. According to my understanding, the crystals of consciousness, the Monopole, is dark matter material. This is not something that we have any sense of. In essence, it is dimensionally different from us. It's not something we can see or hear or taste. It's something that is not atomic in its nature. The life program is atomic. But without the intercession of the crystals of conscious- ness there is no way of turning this form principle into a self-reflected creature like us. We are not this thing. We can enjoy being it. I love my life, my body, my way, --- PAGE 59 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 52 whatever that is. It's not about not enjoying what it is. I enjoy it because it's deep- ly, deeply entertaining. And it's entertaining from the point of view of passenger consciousness. I'm over two decades now in my process. I'm just a splenic Manifes- tor. I watch the splenic Manifestor movie and it's an entertaining movie. It's what we're here for. You don't get any halos and huge shinny auras. What you get is the incredible ability to be able to see the perfection of your own life. That's what this in the end is all about. Each of us has this perfect wiring. All we have to do is honor it. We have this perfect wiring to establish our differentiation. The di- lemma for us is that we're first generation so it means we have to go through all this deconditioning stuff. It's very difficult. But it's all there. It's all there so that ulti- mately that magic can be lived out. Living Human Design Brings the Possibility of Beginning to See So, wherever we go in this journey, we continue in the next couple of classes to go into these nuances in the way in which orientation operates. You have to remember always where it goes. It has to go to the surface. And the only way that the value of it is going to be translated correctly on the surface is when the surface is correct. The seduction of the knowledge of Human Design is somehow the knowledge in and of itself is going to make a difference. It doesn't. It only does if you live it. It's the living of this that is so transforming, it's the living of this that slowly but surely brings the possibility with a disengaged mental system—in other words, your mind is not making your decisions—so that you have the possibility of beginning to see. The work of working with those who have entered into their experiment, when they're physically ready, basically physically ready, it‘s going to require seven years of deconditioning and as much of that involving PHS as possible; a cleansing, a real deep cleansing process because it's the only way that it works. Over that period of time you develop habitually a grasp of the limitations of your mind. And slowly but surely, as you begin to work with various techniques, the ways in which this knowledge helps us, that is, by laying out the mechanics it gives us things that we can look for and therefore if we get distortion we know we're not real- ly where we should be. In other words, all the various signposts that mechanics provide for us. This is the thing that's so beautiful about mind. The last place where I still hold out hope for humanity is how clear it is to me that the truly good minds, minds that are ready to grasp this, and as they take that in, slowly but surely they're transformed by seeing it. It's the seeing, because it's the passenger that's seeing. --- PAGE 60 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 53 We're Here to Share the Highest Levels of Cognitive Potential In the end, if you look at the natural order according to Variable, what the nine- centered being is all about, what you get to see is that the key to our relationship to each other in the future–I'm not talking about our future, the future—is about the quality of communion and the nature of communion. We're here to express the highest levels of cognitive potential. It is what we're here to share. It is more im- portant than sharing our reproductive potential, a reproductive potential that is going to diminish anyway because the odds against it being productive for us are going to get slimmer and slimmer. One of the things that I have missed in my process is being able to hear truth come out of people. I mean that in a general sense. I don't mean that specifically. I mean it in a general sense, conversations with human beings, the way people talk about themselves, their lives, what they want to share with you or communicate with you. The truth isn't part of that. It can't be part of that because they're not-self. As long as you're not-self you can't tell the truth. You can't tell the truth. You can tell maybe 99% of the truth, but you never tell all the truth. And most of time you don't tell the truth at all. This is a dilemma of Personality consciousness that is totally absorbed in being a Personality consciousness. This is both inner and outer authority operating through the being. You know already they're deeply homogenized. But what's more impor- tant than that is understanding that—I talk so much about 2027 and the mutation in 2027. But if you really want to understand what we're all about you've got to go back to a deeper and much more ancient mutation, the one that took place 85,000 years ago with the mutation of the larynx of the 12th Gate and the 11th Gate, be- cause this tells you everything about where our whole development is pointed. It was only then that we had the ability to be able to articulate, to be able to articulate in the sense of being able to create language. It also opened up our ability, a memory capacity to be able to store the experiential phenomena. Everything about the last 85,000 years has been about the refinement of this process through genetic reproduction, through the movement, through the program and the way in which the program drives us. All of that gets us to the point of 1781 and the advent of the nine-centered being and the possibility of a whole new kind of cognition. We are, after all, this incredible combination of Left-ness and Right-ness, of the past and the future integrated into what is a temporary construct, this Homo sapiens in Transitus. It is the last possibility of individuated awareness. It's the last possibility; our form, what we are, this is the last possibility for individuated awareness. It is our great fortune to have the tools. That is, the understanding of the mechanics and with the understanding of the mechanics we end up with the ability to find those answers that we need that allow us to refine this process and align us to what is correct for us. --- PAGE 61 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 54 But in the end, what is it all about? It is here. The Solar Plexus mutation leads to Rave, and that's not us and never will be. And they will communicate differently. But the completion of our process is here. It's in the Throat. This is what we are about. And it is the refinement of what we release from those Throats. There is nothing more inspiring than somebody's ge- nuine outer authority. There is nothing more inspiring. The Goal of Outer Authority This is what in essence is really intended to be our turn-on in this life, is this level of communion. This is what's possible within the context of the nine-centered being. This is what outer authority and the goal of outer authority is all about. It is about passenger consciousness to passenger consciousness. It's about the transformation of the consciousness field, at least to some degree. That's where the real magic is. We have the Ibiza Event coming up, which is always exciting, it's always fun. But there's always something that is deeply special about the communication that is there. I'm not suggesting that this is all pure outer authority. It's not. Yet at the same time, it's a whole group of human beings that are very dedicated to their process, and you're aware of that in the way in which beings communicate with each other. It's the beginning of what is so enriching in this process. When you understand somebody's design, when you just see their surface, it already changes the way in which you are as a human being in relationship to them. I was listening to Jovian Radio today and there was a spot that Lynda Stone had today. At some point in that she was making a comment about relationships: they are surrendering to the other's design. That is, surrendering to the awareness of what their design is so that there is no blame and there's no fault and there's no shame and there's no bullshit, it just is what it is. The deepest and most beautiful truth that we can have with each other is this level of shared awareness. The way in which relationships have been established histori- cally by the seven-centered being have all been rooted in the genetic imperative of being attracted by your open receptors, opening up to that conditioning. And we all understand that yes, the genetic imperative was essential to build the gene pool. --- PAGE 62 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 55 But the gene pool doesn't need building anymore. As a matter of fact, it isn't getting any building anymore. It is not where the program is going and it's not where evolu- tion is going. This is a very, very special threshold for all of us, to understand that we're here to achieve something within ourselves that in fact its only purpose is to be able to share that with somebody else. Self-Love It's one of the most beautiful things to understand about the nature of love. I teach self-love. It is the core of what I understand. And I know so deeply that when you begin with self-love, then love is possible. If you do not have that self-love, then love is a dependency of one kind or another and is never true. You can only love another when you can love yourself, when you don't need to be loved in order to find something, that the love is already there, that it's within you and that the love that you can find in the other is a pleasure; no more, no less. But it begins within. It begins with your own inner love. This is what we are about, that the moment that we can find our own truth, that's the moment we truly share with the other. It's the moment that we can. It's the moment we can fully embrace what another being is because you embrace them as they are, for what they are. And it doesn't mean you have, after all. It doesn't mean that if you're in pos- session of a beautiful piece of outer au- thority that everybody is there for you. We will see that Base Orientation, because it's all mechanics, will say, well, yes, there are certain people that will be open to that and there are cer- tain people where you will get back what is a value to you in terms of the beauty of what someone else's outer authority can bring to your own process. Be Careful What You Offer to the Other It's all about communicating. To get to this place it is not an easy thing to do, but it is on the surface. It can be found there on the surface. Because you're so deeply educated and because so many of you are teachers, analysts, you have to be so careful about what you offer the other. I know that it is very exciting to possess knowledge at this level. And in fact, there is so much that you can offer another human being. But don't do it, because it's all on the surface, and everything else is just a distraction because it's all there on the surface. --- PAGE 63 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 56 It's taken me a long way, this knowledge. I've been on an incredible intellectual journey. When I get to the end of it I get to the joke. It's all in this illusion here, this holistic illusion. Everything's here [bodygraph]. If you tune the frequency, if the frequency is correct, everything unfolds. But that frequency is not anybody else's. It's yours. This is what makes us so special; to get to this stage at the psy- chological level, to take any value from all of this information, to grasp where you have to be in your form principle, to get there. The Mind’s Primary Responsibility: Watch Personality Consciousness And then yes, then there is work we can do, because then we can go through this information and we begin to lay out the signposts to look for. You're pulled to de- sire; something's wrong. You think that it's a probability; something's wrong. It is simple things at first—well, it's not that simple. Basic keys, basic techniques to slow- ly begin to train the mind that its primary responsibility is not to control the Perso- nality consciousness, but to watch it. Just to watch it. What a thing to watch. What a magical machine. It's so incredible. And the more you watch it, the more you understand how phenomenal it really is, because at this level of the knowledge you get to a point where you've got to under- stand something: it's all set. It's all there. It's all embedded in, no matter which way you go—not-self, true self—it's all there. The only difference is the frequency. The only thing that makes a difference is the frequency. And without your Strategy and Authority—it's why we live on a planet with such a distorted frequency—without Strategy and Authority there is no way to refine your frequency, there's no way to align yourself to all of these things that lie beneath. And it's not that they don't function if you're homogenized, it's just all distorted. It doesn‘t matter what you think your life looks like in the homogenized world, the way we compare our success or not, our "this," our "that," whatever the case may be. It is really something to grasp that the differentiated way is so special because it is so different and it's you. It's all in the tuning. The Nodes Give Very Specific Analytical Keys So, when we're looking here—a long digres- sion—at the Nodes we're getting literally very, very specific analytical keys. One of the things that I will be doing in Holistic Analysis is show- ing you how you take the Link Nodes together, as an example, and you look at what they are actually doing, the way in which the form principle is being aligned with the Personality principle, the way the two of them are coming together, and through the gates and lines you begin to have the analyti- cal terminology to be able to understand how those lines are going to be expressed, both in terms of how they can be expressed correctly and how that can be distorted. --- PAGE 64 --- LESSON 3 Personality Base Orientation Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 57 Most human beings live through the distortion and you need to be able to know all the potentials of the distortion in order to allow their mind to see it, because that's all it takes. Every time you see it, every time you are watching conditioning, every time you're aware of it, it doesn‘t have to be just mental conditioning—you know you've got an open center, you're suddenly aware of that change in that center, this is all a part of awakening the power of your passenger consciousness. You can only do that when you're not absorbed in your Personality process. You can't be. It's all set. So let it work properly. If this is going to determine the Perso- nality View, then you don't want this thing constantly looking at things and saying "that's the probability," because they're going to be disappointed. Nice big Projector disappointment; very bitter, not going to like it, no suc- cess in that. And then they won- der why they've got a problem. But this is what's feeding their mind. Again, it's going to be feeding it through whatever the limitation of that particular line is relative to everything else in their story—who they are, their cross, and all of that stuff and everything that goes with their design. The Mind Needs Signposts The only thing you can do for the mind is you can give the mind signposts. What you can do to the body is much easier. You just treat it correctly. If you treat the body correctly, it will instantly respond. But for the mind, the mind is different. You have to keep on showing it. And as you keep on showing it, as you keep on pointing it towards watching, that's how it develops. It's how you develop the first level of seeing. We have the mundane level of seeing, looking out through your eyes. And there is a second level of seeing. Seeing the see-er; this is the second level. The stage that you have to get to to begin to open up passenger consciousness is that you've got to see your Personality; you've got to watch it. Now aside from the fact the fact that it's fascinating, it's also deeply liberating and liberating deep, deep, within. It's not who you are. It's what you're here to expe- rience. And through that experience be able to develop your cognitive powers, be- cause that's our point. The only thing that evolution is interested in from everything that I see in the construct is that it's interested in cognition. --- PAGE 65 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 58 When we move beyond 2027 to the conscious Rave, whenever that takes place, you're moving to a different level of cognition. There you're going to have the merg- ing of cognitive powers in three, four or five beings linked together in a conscious Penta. So you have a whole different level of awareness, awareness operating in its own way out of a uniquely homogenized group. The Nine-Centered Beings are Here to be Survival Machines Everything about the nine-centered being is that that's what it's about. It's why it is such a tragedy to see how human beings are suffering on the material plane. For the seven-centered being the material plane was the thing that they mastered with such ease. But it's become very, very, very difficult, because nine-centered beings are not equipped in the same way. This is not what we're here for. We're not here to enslave all the mammals. We're not here to kill each other. We're not here for all that stuff. We're not. We're here to be survival machines, natural survival machines not having to be con- cerned; automatic pilot, so that we can experience awareness. It's the beauty of the journey. And don't be concerned; every time you see it, you grow. And you do. Everything about this knowledge is about making sure that we have all the sign- posts. Because if you have all the signposts you give the mind exactly what it needs—the reference points for it to discover itself. And for the passenger to be able to see finally the undistorted process, to simply watch the perfection of the form at work, to enjoy this ride, the entertainment, until the end. Well, I'm looking forward to 3-D animated Human Design program. I think that's really going to be fantastic. I can't get that out of my mind. I was looking at the animation of the 3-D bodygraph turning and spinning and I just sort of got that flashing in front of me as I was talking to you. Written question: Any due date for the animated version? Any due date? Oh, yeah, I would imagine that we have a good shot for September, so we'll see. Anyway, it is my daughter's birthday, so I'm off to a birthday celebration. I will tho- roughly enjoy that. To all of you, I hoped you enjoyed that. We will look at the frac- tal lines of Base Orientation in the next two weeks. Until then, to all of you, bye for now. ~ --- PAGE 66 --- Advanced Mechanics I is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 59 Lesson Four Base Orientation and Analysis I All right, hello and welcome to all of you. Now we get to a very interesting place. We get to where what is below and what is above integrate together. I think that one of the things to keep in mind about our process, and for me with many of you a process of over many, many years, is that we've been digging deeper and deeper and deeper into the infrastructure until finally we get to a place where we can actual- ly spend the time looking at Base Orientation considering where we've come from, from the surface to the circuitry to the centers to the gates to the lines and down to the colors and tones and finally to the base. There's a great deal of knowledge that you have all picked up over this period of time, knowledge that gives you access to the values at each of these levels. But then comes the real step, the final step, in a sense. It's what my upcoming Holistic Analysis program is all about. That is, to be able to synthesize at the next level. I leave these first two illustrations for continuity, that is, the illustrations that we have been working with both the Design and Personality [Larger illustrations on pgs 106- 107]. --- PAGE 67 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 60 I want to come here. It doesn't really matter what you know. It doesn't matter what the detail is that you happen to grasp, that is, an aspect of this or that wherev- er it may be. But, ultimately it is about seeing how every single one of these aspects and their nuances influence the nature of this being, what is this being. Everything is on the Surface From the moment I was given the knowledge, it was clear to me that this was a journey into mapping. That is, mapping out the possibility of what it is to be a diffe- rentiated being. Here in Advanced Imaging we have all of the tools we need. And yet, the secret of Human Design has always been the same. I keep on saying the same thing I guess over and over now for a very long time. Everything is on the surface. And everything being on the surface isn't some kind of diminishment of what's there on the surface. It is an enormous compliment, if I can put it that way. Anything that you're going to find in the substructure has to be alive in the holistic whole. It has to be. It doesn't necessarily mean that when you're looking at the ho- --- PAGE 68 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 61 listic whole from a basic analysis level that you necessarily see precisely the nature of the nuance. This comes with training, obviously. And it is part of the process that I will take students through. Yet, at the same time you have to see that it was al- ready there if you could see the chart. And of course, this is all about being able to see the chart. So, before we go any further in our process I think it's something that is very impor- tant for us to take a look at it. And in taking a look at it, to see clearly all the vari- ous elements, and there are an enormous number of elements that are there. Again, everything is going to play out on the surface so we're going to begin our movie directly on the surface itself. When we start on the surface, the first thing we need to look at, just from the obvious, is the nature of what is here in the control panel. Let's just make sure that we know what's here. And once we understand what's here in the control panel, and again I'm only speak- ing of the surface, so basically what I'm looking at is what's the Cross? As a Left An- gle Cross of Dominion, what's the Profile? It's a 6/3. This is the surface that I need to begin with, that very surface of the dynamic of the role, what that role is going to be, the role model martyr and the role model martyr that is here to live out the story of dominion. The thing to recognize about people that come in a Cross, when you're looking at a Cross you're looking at all kinds of larger frameworks for the way in which their life can be the correct per- formance. And don't mind my theatrical analogies, but I do en- joy them. And it's something to grasp in the nature of being given a role on a Cross. I'm a 5/1 Clarion. It already tells you a great deal about what's there. It doesn't nuance it, it doesn't differentiate it. There're obviously a lot of 5/1 Clarions. But again, everything about the surface is that no matter how far away you get in a homogenized pattern, for example, looking at Crosses, the reality is that it's going to trickle down and the values that lie underneath are directly values that apply to this. After all, the Profile you have comes from an imprint. It is inherent in you. It is built in, in that sense. --- PAGE 69 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 62 6/3 Profile So we have a 6/3. We know right away that we have a tripartite life process. We know that we're going to have a very, very difficult early part of the life; that is, the first 30 years. We know there's going to be a sense of pessimism, an uncomforta- bleness with the way in which life seems to work out, the dilemma of what it is to be a 6/3 and what it means to live that 3/3 phenomena. Again, every single aspect that you can recognize on the surface is going to be helpful for you in integrating the nuances below. If you don't see it on the surface, you're not going to know how to apply that knowledge when you bring it forward. Split Definition: 12th Gate So, let's take a look a little bit deeper on the surface. We clearly see that we are dealing with a split definition. Not only are we dealing with a split definition, but we're dealing with one of those split definitions in which there is only one gate that will bridge the split. There is no other single gate that will bridge this split definition. That means that there is an enormous pressure on that 12th Gate. This becomes a very, very powerful force in conditioning this life. Now, Standstill is caution in the face of temptation. This is looking for temptation, looking for it, looking for those things that will pull one and particularly looking for it in strangers. This is not somebody that is going to be particularly comfortable with familiars. This is somebody is going to be caught up in the mystique and the mystery of the 12/22 and its unique muta- tive social dynamic. And we know that as a split definition that what's more impor- tant to this person than anything else is to find the stability that is here in the social connection with the other. Now the 12/22 is something else. This is somebody who's going to be a sucker for romance. This is somebody who is going to shed a tear at the end of a sad movie. This is somebody who is going to love the sound of words. It is somebody who is going to wish they could express themselves in that way. --- PAGE 70 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 63 There is also the secondary openness there, and that openness that is going to be a deep influence on this being. We're dealing with a Projector after all. And we are dealing with a Projector with an enormous amount of energy under pressure that has no release valve, that's always pointing towards that 12. Seeing the Person on the Surface Again, in dealing with the not-self, you have a deeply abstract thinker. The only way you're going to be able to instruct this person is experientially. The one thing that an abstract mind grasps is a sto- ry. And here we have the ab- stract process completed from the G Center upwards. It is somebody who is going to be a very powerful witness in this life, somebody who is going to have the secret but not somebody who's going to be able to act easily out on that. We know that this is going to be somebody in which bitterness is going to play an important part of their life, the bitterness in not being able to find that perfect romance. It's the kind of design that suffers from unrequited love, always fantasiz- ing, always caught in that desire fantasy, the dreams of the possibility of the love that waits at the other end. And they don't feel worthy. And they hold onto all those things that are bad for them. And they don't know when enough is enough. And they're a 6/3. We know right away what is going to happen in this pheno- menon. That we're going to have a very, very powerful mind, constantly full of ideas that simply percolate out of no- where that lead to the need to act. This is somebody that will emotionally ex- plode, because there is all this under pressure. --- PAGE 71 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 64 To see a being on the surface is more than just being able to integrate what we can discover underneath. But it's also about understanding how you deal with such a person. The first thing they need to understand is that they're okay. They're okay. Undefined Ego people always think there's something the matter. And there isn't. It's all ok. It's the first thing to understand: Nothing to prove, no pressure. They have to understand when you're dealing with them that you think they're okay. Oh yeah, they're a little off the track, but then again that doesn't mean they're not okay. And if they're beating themselves up, they're punishing the wrong person, be- cause that's not who they are. It's not. It's obvious for a being like this that waiting for the invitation is something that is going to deeply transform their life. And yet, for most human beings who carry a configuration like this, it is the endless ideas that end up nowhere, it is the emotional bitterness that arises out of this process, and a life that is simply lost in the hunt for what it is not. The Relationship between the Bases So, let's take a journey here into the beginnings of looking at the potential of analy- sis rooted at this level. The first thing you can see in the illustration is that the Link Nodes have been shifted so we can look at them analytically. [Larger illustration, pg. 105.] Remember, in order to analyze the way in which the Nodes operate, you need to see them in their Link Node position. What we get to see once the Link Node is established is the relationship that is there between the Bases. That is, the Link Node Base, the 2, and the Prime Node Base, which is the 1, the 33.4 and then up here the Bases that are there for the Sun and Earth that also happen to be the 1, all of those 1s here. And what we see is that this is a binary. And the important thing about the recognition of seeing a binary is that there is a direct rela- tionship between these two all the time. What we're looking at here is an inner process. There is also an outer process, but this will not be covered in this program. I look at Per- sonality with you next week. In dealing with this binary, we see that there is auto- --- PAGE 72 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 65 matically a continual relationship between that 1 and 2. And that relationship is en- tirely focused on the material. So here in the binary, whatever analytical values we're going to be able to bring, it's important to understand that there is a significant bond between them which means that the way in which the both the Prime and Link Node operate correctly is in rela- tionship to each other. If we look on the other side, we see that there is a binary separation. And next week when we look at this in detail, we'll get to see what that means is that there is a totally different process for each of the Base Orientations and they don't interact with each other. Which means, for example, that the way in which one looks at the world isn't necessarily the way in which one conceptualizes or vice versa, but we will look at that. But here we're going to stay on the Design side in order to be able to take it to its analytical value. The Illustration Layout First of all, let me lay out here what you're looking at. [Larger illustration, pg 106.] You're looking at the Design side. The illustration that you were just looking at is here. That is, the illustration of the holistic graph and of course you're looking at the relationship between the Bases in this binary, that is the material binary. Up here at the very top you'll see that we're on the Design side and we are looking at values that are attached. So that we see that it's Ap- petite, we see that it is Consecutive through Outer Vision, and that it is Conditions that are the fundamental framework for the die- tary regimen. We also get to see the values that are attached to the lines themselves. In other words, Exclu- sion, which is the 3rd Line of the 45, and here [red arrows], Influence, which is the 3rd Line of the 26, so the various values are there. The next thing you'll notice is that when we get to the Nodes themselves, the Nodes are separated. This is something that will also exist in programming. As I mentioned, we're working on animated programming and so these things are really possible for us. --- PAGE 73 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 66 The Prime Node and the Link Node When you're looking at the construct here for the Node, the first thing that you begin with is the Prime Node. Again, the Prime Node, the classification that it is Hardscape, obviously it is lower Color, it is Markets and it is Internal. And then we have the Prime Node itself here in the 33.4, which is the line of Dignity, and you can see that the Prime Node is pointed up- ward. It is the Prime Node that aligns the brain system to the life. So, this relationship that is here is a very, very important relationship. In other words, it's aligning the brain system and the way in which the potential of the brain system to integrate into the life itself. This connection here is one that is very significant. So, the value here is going to be a relationship that is going to be established here that is going to connect up- wards and integrate this into the life process. And then finally, we have the Link Node itself. The Link Node aligns the Perspective to the Environment. So it has another job entirely. Again it is the same in terms of its key- notes—the Hardscape, Markets, Internal—but this is all about pointing this outward to estab- lish the correct Perspective in the life, and to align the vehicle to that correct Perspective in the life. Begin with the Prime Node So, let's begin to see how this works. Let's start here with the Prime Node. Now, everything for me in terms of the way in which the hierarchy is established in analyt- ical values is that it is the Independent Variable that hierarchically is the most signif- --- PAGE 74 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 67 icant aspect in Design. That is, the Nodal construct. And it is the most significant aspect in Design because Design is form principle. It's form principle. It is about surrendering to the form principle for the ulterior motive of benefiting the Personality consciousness. But nonetheless, it is form principle knowledge and it is about surrendering the form to what is correct navigation on the plane in a way that is absolutely differentiated for our own trajectory, each and every one of us with a unique movement through a unique environment to that unique respect. The Prime Node Expresses the Life So we begin with the Prime Node because it is the Prime Node that actually ex- presses the life. Think about that. When you get to the Prime Node of the Personali- ty, it is simply going to express a Perspective for conceptualizing, because the Per- sonality operates very differently. But here you have something that's very, very fixed. It's very fixed. This is what the brain system has to adapt to. This is what the brain system has to align itself to. That brain system ultimately produces who you think you are. And who you think you are can only be established when it's established here. So, this is where the story of the life begins. This is where the story of the life is established. And it is this life that directly influences the way in which the brain system is going to operate. The first thing we get to see about the nature of this is that, again, we have to re- member context. Everything needs to be seen in its context. There's a great deal of differ- ence between aspects that are defined or not. It‘s the same that is true for anyone in their configuration, whether it's their Suns or Earths or Nodes or whatever it may be. In open centers, it changes the way in which the configuration oper- ates. It has to. Here we're dealing with a situation in which the life is deeply established. And what I mean by that is that the core of the source of the life is established in the definition. It's alive. It is a life force that is there. It is active. --- PAGE 75 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 68 The 33.4 So the first thing to see is that this theme of Dignity in Retreat, we're talking about the body. Not only are we talking about the body, but remember your chain know- ledge. It's 4th Line and we know a lot about 4th Lines. We know about the fatigue of the 4th Line, the abdication of 4th Line, the burnout of 4th Line. We know that there is an exhaustion inherent in 4th Line when it is not operating correctly, that a lack of tur- moil is what the bedrock of this person's life is. Think about that. Think deeply about this now. A lack of turmoil is the bedrock of this person's life. Now look at them, and I guarantee you they‘re in tur- moil. This Design is not-self; I guarantee you it's in tur- moil, in nothing but turmoil. And the only way that it's going to begin to align itself is by understanding that retreat is something that is so important for it. And retreat doesn't mean that you go into isolation and that you're absolutely alone. It‘s the underlying faith and resurrection that turns retreat into an opportunity for renewal and regeneration. Oh yes, there is always the potential of forced to retreat and unable to see the rege- nerative qualities. And the balance of that is in the hands of the frequency of the holistic being. But the point of their life, what their life grows out of is when there is no turmoil. It‘s what they are about. We know that when we are dealing with the Prime Node, we‘re dealing with not just simply that this is where the life is established, but we‘re dealing with a life being established within a very specific frame. This is a Hardscape life. This is the Internal Markets. This is where the retreat becomes the semi-isolation, and yet at the same time, it‘s a market. This is about being active, after all. The value of any Projector is their great gift of guidance, their ability to recognize, be recognized and to be able to serve, in that sense. But for this being to operate correctly, they are going to have to find their Dignity, because dignity is everything for them in this life. They can have no life story with- out that dignity, but they‘re a 6/3. You talk about turmoil; the turmoil is every- where. Do you understand what this actually means? Everybody has Nodes, but it doesn't mean you're living your story. It doesn't mean they're operating correctly. It doesn't. They become distorted like everything else. And it doesn't become the --- PAGE 76 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 69 central theme of your life, because there's nothing in you that makes that naturally your theme in this life. But it is. The Prime Node Aligns the Brain System This Prime Node is aligning the brain system. It says the brain system can‘t be aligned if you‘re in turmoil, if you have lost your dignity. You can‘t. Now, the brain system is an interesting thing, because de- spite the fact that the Prime Node establishes the life itself in the Design sense, that it es- tablishes a fundamental key, that we well know the trans- formation process does not be- gin here. This is number two here on the list. In other words, in order for this lack of turmoil in retreat to successful- ly be able to align to the brain system, the brain system has to be ready. Now, there is a deep advantage in this design. There is this resonance that runs through the Base Orientation that aligns them together at the deepest level. It also means that externally, this brain system is going to be very limited in what it's going to be attracted to or what it is able to affect. But those they meet in their fractal will be able to impact that very deeply because of the concentration of this Base Orientation. When we‘re dealing with a brain system, we know that it's all about Conditions. And isn't it interesting that this is a caveman/cavewoman who will find their life in retreat. There‘s continuity wherever you're looking at a chart. If the continui- ty isn't there, really something is wrong. And this ‗one thing at a time‘ is something that is deeply important to the way in which this retreat is going to operate and who gets to come into that Market that is Internal. But to be correct at that level, you have to be able to operate ac- cording to your Strategy and Authority. --- PAGE 77 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 70 This is an emotional, split-definition Projector. This is a great verbal gunslinger; blah, blah, blah. And isn‘t it interesting, the dichotomy. If it wasn‘t so obvious to me that the program was just a mechanism, it would be so easy to say that it's real- ly nasty. Think about the dilemma in this being. We looked at the dilem- ma before, that 12th Gate calling out for that social interaction, that special social interaction, that mutative ro- mantic social interaction, that thing that is really going to change things, that is going to bring the passion to the surface and all that stuff. Their life story is about retreat. It‘s not about getting lost in this at all. We get down deep within the graph and you look at the infrastructure, you get to see how far away the dif- ferentiated life is from the ordinary surface frequency. How far away it is. And the beauty at this level is that you just get a signpost. It‘s just so powerful. It is says, this is the life, the physical life. It's all here. It isn't on the other side. It isn't. Everything that establishes the life you're going to find in the Prime Node and it gives you a key. It says to you: This is the story for you. And if you're not staged correctly, just forget it, because you'll never get these things to aligning together. Base Orientation Now think about the Base Orientation, the alignment that is here. We know that at a number of levels there are going to be certain dilemmas that are here in the way in which this information moves. We have 2nd Color, 2nd Tone. We have 1st Color, 3rd Tone. This is dissonance. We have 4th Line going to 3rd Lines. This is dissonance. So underneath, in terms of the orienta- tion, it's going to move smoothly. But as a process, no it won‘t. Resonance, Harmony and Dissonance Let's think about these three terms we use. We have Resonance, we have Harmony, and we have Dissonance. Now, resonance is an obvious. It is there. It is the same thing, in that sense. Now the thing about resonance that makes resonance tricky is --- PAGE 78 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 71 that you don't feel it. Resonance, because it operates so smoothly, is not something as a frequency that attracts attention. Now harmony does. You‘re going to be much more aware of external resonance to harmonies, the way in which you are attracted to a harmony, than the way in which you are attracted to the resonance because the harmony has a distinction to it. So when you're dealing with dissonance, you‘re dealing with something that's loud. In other words, it's like a machine that's not well oiled. You hear the gears turn and grind. It still moves through, but it's not a smooth process. And whenever you're dealing with dissonance, each of the values are going to have to be dealt with. Sun in the 26.3 in an Open Ego Center Let‘s begin with the Sun. We have the Sun in the 26.3. We‘re on the Cross of Dominion, after all. The 26th Gate is a very powerful gate, but it is in an undefined Ego Center, the missing Influence, that ability that once prepared to gather support. The egoist is unable to recognize the potential challenges to others, from others, with others. Now, isn‘t it in- teresting in the way in which genetic continuity operates? This 26 is a Sun that only operates inconsistently and only operates according to condition- ing. And what does the conditioning bring? It brings the ability once prepared to gather support. The thing to understand about this is that when the being is not correct, when they are lost in the not-self, the conditioning of their Ego Center drives them even more towards the 12, even more towards the social dynam- ic, even more towards turmoil, because unless they are correct, only then can they be wise here. It is not a smooth movement at all. It isn‘t. This lack of turmoil in retreat that is the nature of the life is making a demand here. It‘s saying ―Well, well, well, well, --- PAGE 79 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 72 well, yes, yes, yes but if you‘re going to gather support, do it as a Projector and do it over time because you're emotional and allow it to come to you in your retreat, on your terms, and then it will function.‖ Earth in 45.3 in a Defined Throat Center If we're dealing with a 45, we‘re dealing with a different story. The Earth is part of the activated Throat Center, so it is an aspect that is operating. Now, it‘s one of things to think about when, for example, you learn keynoting. One of the things about keynoting is that you keynote the channels, but the active gates become de- scriptive; they become adjectives; they bring a quality to everything that is there in this definition. Now, we know we have a very, very abstract process here. That is, an abstract process that is trying to make sense out of the experiential, an abstract process that is both empathic and one that is easily, easily stimulated by ideas. And all of that is influenced by that 45, Exclusion. Now, think about the trap that's here. The ability, when excluded, to take whatever measures are necessary to dissolve the antiquated form and accept even humil- iation to achieve inclu- sion. The expression of frustration when not included in the material process. So this hang- ing gate is going to in- fluence everything that is at work here; every- thing. If you're trying to in- terpret your own script, you‘re going to end up in trouble, because that's not what we're about. The values in- herent in these lines, their true value can emerge with a being who is correct. But if the being is not correct, then everything that is in the design, let alone what is not in the design because this is what the substructure leads you to, everything in the de- sign is ready to cooperate with homogenization, totally. It is mentally driven, after all. And it's so easy for this being to get caught up when ―I‘ve got to be of influence and I cannot be excluded and I have to have that damn 12th Gate. And I have to go out there and integrate with those beings and I've got to be social, and I'm got to do all --- PAGE 80 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 73 those things" and you can kiss your life goodbye. In some other life you can have this, because only this will set the tone and you can't get there by deciding to get there. It has to be correct. It has to emerge out of your correctness. This Person Cannot Succeed with Turmoil Remember what we're looking at. We're looking at holistic analysis, looking at holis- tic analysis that is there to serve those who are deep in their process. This is not a surface thing. It‘s about really coming to grips with the deep underlying theme so that you have something to watch. For this being, I could put my finger on the right word in a moment, because it‘s all about turmoil. This is somebody who cannot succeed with turmoil. They cannot be themselves. They can't. They cannot find the dignity that is inherent in what their life is about. And the brain system just has to put up with it. It has no choice in the matter. It's not in charge. What it does is adapt to the way in which the story unfolds. For most beings, the story is chaotic. But if you‘re correct at this level, PHS level, environ- mentally, then all of this begins to play as it should. And what happens is that you don't have to fight to be included. It won't happen. It won't. The Rave I‘Ching is written for the not-self. It isn‘t that these lines do not carry the value with the true self. Of course they do. But this ability when excluded is not about something they have to do; it is something that is inherent in them that will pull all those others to them because that's the way it works when they're in the right place when they're operating correctly. The Link Node: Aligns the Perspective to the Environment Now, let‘s take another step. We go to the Link Node. Remember that this Link Node is coming over from the Perso- nality side to align the Perspective to the Environment. Now, that‘s a key. In other words, this is where, in es- sence, the job of the Link Node; this is where the Perspective is actually set. Remember, this is about the life. But this is how the Perspective is set within the context of the vehicle. Remember, it is still within the same frame, the Hardscape Market Internal. That doesn't change. It is the continu- ity of it. But it's about the way in which this relates directly to the Pers- pective itself. And it comes through Surrender. This is the embracing powerful --- PAGE 81 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 74 forces in order to lay the foundation for future success. Now of course, there can be a public embrace of powerful forces and a private resentment of their power. But this embrace, this is the 33; this is here in the same place. In other words, it is something to understand that when this being is correct, what is going to be in their Perspective is powerful forces. And powerful forces that are going to be attracted to them, to whatever their Projector potential hap- pens to be. They are attracted to their Spirit. What is essential to see at the line relationship here is a dissonance. The Base Orientation is a natural. It's all about Material, and it's all about seeing very clearly that for this being the material success in their life, what their Earth wants so much because that inclusion is all about being in the material process. That they‘re a natural for that if they are without turmoil in retreat and Surrender to those forces that come to them. It‘s what's possible for them. When they are at their correctness at this level, what they are going to attract is here [Binary Base] as well. They're going to attract those forces that align to their material nature, a deep material nature. But everything, wherever you look, this is the key [Design Prime Node]. Now, you‘re going to have quite a thing to look at when you sit down and you look at your Design Prime Node. It‘s time for you to see it in its deepest context. When you look at that Prime Node, it‘s telling you something very, very profound. It really is. This is the whole thing about understanding this level is that when you‘re looking at this level you get every signpost; you get to see everything because the reality is when you look so deeply you get to see the dysfunction on the surface. It‘s all frequency. It‘s nothing else. It is all about the holistic frequency of the being. If the holistic frequency is correct, all of this operates correctly and the life begins to unfold. Now again, let‘s place that in context. Think about the nine-centered life. It‘s classic here in this example of somebody who's a 6/3, who lives the true tripar- tite, nine-centered life process. It‘s not until you get to that 30th year that you are ready to do something that is going to establish the nature of your being. That is, you‘re going to plant your cross and here is where you plant it [Design Prime Node]. This is what it's all about. For this being, for this role model martyr to be able to un- --- PAGE 82 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 75 fold, to eventually be able to flower, all of this is here, because this is where the sto- ry begins. The Prime Node: The Key to Well-Being for the Body We‘ll get to see where the story leads to, where the Perspective is going to point this life. Because what is there for you to see is what is a part of what your life is. But for the body, the key to well-being for the body, the key to longevity for the body, the key to quality of life for the body is in the Prime Node and where it is, to see how it works, to see how it functions. But all of it comes up through the continuity. Every sin- gle layer is there. It is all pointed out in the design itself. This dilemma that this per- son first faces is what they don't have, the 12th gate of Caution, a gate that says, "Hey, slow down. You don't have to be with that person or those people, or that, or there." The 12th Gate is a stop codon. It is by its very, very nature cautious. This being doesn‘t have that. All these layers are there within their design, all these things are pointing at the split-definition Projector needing to have the others, needing to sacrifice themselves to the others so they end up being bitter for the rest of their lives. And underneath it‘s all very clear. This is a gate of really pulling very, very powerful forces into one‘s life. Not looking for anything, not chasing anything, but sitting back in the perfection of where one is supposed to be. I put a lot of emphasis on the Independent Variable, because quite frankly, the external is the story. This is where the life is. It doesn‘t mat- ter the rest of the stuff; well, it does but it‘s relative. This is where the form prin- ciple is given its way, each and every one of us, this unique process. And it tells you what is going to be in there in that. It just does. Clearly, this being with its very, --- PAGE 83 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 76 very active Left-ness, this whole process is going to unfold through this correct envi- ronment and the establishment of a relationship of strength, to be able to deal with such powerful forces, for whatever they may bring. Each Level of the Substructure Provides a Mechanical Key Everything about the work we do is that each level of the substructure provides us with a mechanical key. It‘s a mechanical key. As we explore deeper and deeper, all it does is illustrate the nuances of the mechanics. On the Design side everything is about surrendering to the form, surrendering to its correct nourishment, both inter- nally and externally. And on the Personality side is the surrender to watching. The mechanisms are there. I started this process all these years ago with a clear understanding that any human being is able to awaken because the mechanics say so. You look deeply into any- one's mechanics and you can see that if they are oriented correctly, then their life will unfold as it should. Period. And yet, it's not so easy to be able to distinguish what is the signpost. This is the value of the knowledge at this level. That key of turmoil says so much. It moves everywhere in that being. It adds such richness to this person, beginning to understand its great risk in its relationship to the other, how disciplined it has to be in the way in which it deals with invitation. How important it is for it to respect its time frequency, its emotional timing system. You all well know that most human beings with anything close to this kind of a de- sign are going to be not-self. It is the nature of the world we live in. All that magic that is there, all that possibility that is there, it just doesn‘t play out. So, these keys at this level bring to us additional tools to point out the obvious. That this is about fundamentals. It‘s not about diagnostics. It‘s not about deeper levels. It‘s just showing you the beginnings of what is possible when you start integrating all of these various levels of information. It‘s all here. It‘s there to be seen. Remember, it's only when you see here that you can really under- stand what all these values are re- ally about, what they really point to. And then you can grab for the secrets, those key elements that are really going to tell you the sto- ry, that layout, that foundation of that storyline, that give you a chance to do what the mind does best: measure, measure, measure. Let your mind measure, your prox- imity to the perfection of your sto- ryline, because it‘s what we're looking at. It's all there. --- PAGE 84 --- LESSON 4 Base Orientation and Analysis I Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 77 The rest, the way these elements that are here in the Dependent Variable and the way in which it integrates is fascinating because that gives us the living entity, the living totality that's going to be in that life story, the character that is going to inha- bit this particular story. Holistic Analysis Begins with the Nodes But you have to start here. Any analysis that you do at the holistic level has to be- ing with the Nodes. This is where you start because this is the foundation for the life itself. And once you can see clearly what the foun- dation is of the life for the being, only then can you integrate everything else in order to be able to see the true dynamic of what kind of creature this really is. It‘s amazing stuff, to be able to see so deeply into a being. It truly is. But, it still goes back to the basics of this knowledge. If you see the surface, you're really seeing every- thing. All the knowledge does is bring you additional details. Yes, they‘re valuable, but again, you‘ve got to see this [bodygraph], be- cause if you don't see this and if you don't see what's here, you're not going to be able to use all that data well. Human Design is Rooted in the Ability to Read the Graph No matter how far we go into the nature of the database, Human Design is still rooted in the ability to read the graph. And what we have here is just all kinds of additional information that will allow us to read this graph at the deepest levels. But you‘ve got to see it on the surface, because that‘s where everybody is. And it‘s the surface that's going to be distorting, whatever the possibility of that being‘s story is underneath is on the surface. It‘s always on the surface. All right, I enjoyed that one. I find that just making the graphs is a very special ex- perience for me. I‘ve been looking at charts now for 23 years. At this level, it is so confirming to be able to see how the genetic continuity is maintained at every level you look. It can't be any other way, obviously. And there are moments that I just --- PAGE 85 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 78 sit and look at the bodygraph and suddenly understand that it has developed a depth to it that 23 years ago I didn‘t know whether we‘d get this far. So, it's quite a thing to see. Anyway, to all of you, it was nice sharing it with you. Next week we‘ll close with something that's even more incredible, at least to me, and that‘s the Personality. Ok, until then, bye for now. ~ --- PAGE 86 --- Advanced Mechanics III is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 79 Lesson Five Base Orientation and Analysis II Hello and welcome to all of you. I just had the pleasure of watching and listening to the final cut of the first fully animated Introduction to Human Design. I must say it's just a delight to be able to have both the technology and the talent to be able to do something that I fantasized doing 20 years ago. We're going to screen it for the first time at the Event and then it will be available in the newcomer's zone; it will be re- placing the introduction film there. That was a lot of fun. The Secret to Passenger Consciousness is Non-Interference Let's get on with the business of Base Orientation and Analysis and let's get over to the Personality. Something to really grasp about the nature of the possibility of pas- senger consciousness is the secret is non-interference. If there's a secret at all, it's something you learn through your process in Strategy and Authority; you can get to that place. But it's not about interfering in your life. Most human beings are trapped in interfering with their life. It's a real dilemma, a real dilemma. They see something going on in their life and automatically there is a part of them that simply wants to interfere with that and what wants to interfere with that is what is perceiving it. That is, the Personality consciousness and the way in which the Personality consciousness operates. It's this pulling back; this not interfering, but not abandoning one's life. I think many, perhaps, have a misunderstanding about what it means to experience pas- senger consciousness, that one has to be disconnected or detached, that kind of lan- guage is often used. But that's not the case at all. As a matter of fact, from the perspective of passenger consciousness, you're actually more absorbed in your life. It's just simply in a very different way. That is, you're absorbed in the experience of that life. You're not absorbed in trying to handle the vagaries of life itself. You're not managing that life. That is ultimately the difference. It is this non-interference. It's one of the things you must all learn from your own designs. You find things in your own design, there are things that if you were thinking in a judgmental sense you might want to replace it, make it different, whatever the case may be. The re- ality is that once you begin to operate correctly you begin to notice that it is those aspects that are something you can almost immediately recognize. You can begin to --- PAGE 87 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 80 see what it actually does. What it does is very different than what you thought when you weren't being you. Awareness Comes from a Deep Involvement in Existence This is the entertainment of what it is to be aware. Otherwise, this would not be pleasant. It is not pleasant to be absorbed in the machinations of your own life. It's not. It only leads to suffering. That is what is there. Everything about the mechan- ics of Human Design is in order to liberate the possibility of awareness. Awareness does not come from detach- ment. It comes from a deep, deep in- volvement in existence, but from a differ- ent perspective. Of course, everything having to do with that perspective begins at our nodal frame. It is here and it is obviously a by-product of what we have been looking at. That is, the phenomena of the Link Node. Nodal Analysis I want to get to the meat of this first and then I'll take a step back and look at the nature of impact of binary separation in this particular case. But I want you to get something about what you've been able to see or are see- ing, particularly last week and this week. You're seeing the key to Nodal analysis. You're seeing that Nodal analysis can lay the foundation for any ho- listic analysis. And in looking at Nodal analy- sis, the first thing you get to see is that the moment you bring the Link Nodes into ef- fect, you begin to understand something about the Nodes and how separate they are. When you're looking at this particular design, the Perso- --- PAGE 88 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 81 nality Nodes are in the 19th Gate, the Design Nodes are in the 33rd Gate. [Larger il- lustration, pg. 107]. Quite different from the way you see it in a normal configura- tion. Only here do you begin to realize the significance. In other words, everything about the movement that the Nodes represent as the head and tail of the dragon, this vast movement in life, this South Node phase, North Node phase, to also begin to see this within a totally different dimension. That is, yes, there's a North Node and a South Node phase that aligns one to a line of geometry. But there is a very, very specific way in which the vehicle operates in that and a very specific way in which the Perso- nality operates in that and you can hone into that through the specific gates and, obviously, through the lines themselves. The Prime Node brings Together the Potential of the Perspective & Conceptualizing When we're looking here at the Personality, the most important thing you're looking at, as with the Design, is what determines the relationship between the Node itself and the Personality consciousness. In other words, what is going to bring together the potential of Perspective and the potential of conceptualizing. That becomes the function of what is the Prime Node. It is this Prime Node that is going to link and it is going to link to the conceptualizing system. If we're going to look for inner re- sonance, for example, the way we experience this through the lunar and planetary square, if we were going to look at the way in which this particular Perception was going to operate, we would be able to see experientially through the relationship here [Personality North Node data], this relationship to the lunar and planetary square. It's going to give us the influences that are there on this particular perception because this is the perception that trans- lates to the conceptualizing area of the brain. It is not the perception that deals with the reality of the body and the environment [Design North Node circled]. So, the first key is here. What is going to determine the Personality View is the 19th Gate, it's going to be the 2nd Line, it's going to be the 2nd Color, it's going to be the 2nd Base, and obviously the 4th Tone. Let's think about it for a moment. We're look- ing at something very specific. We're looking at a View. This is the key for under- standing this level. So we are looking at a View and we know that the View is 2nd Color and it is Possibility. We also know that there's a distraction and the distraction --- PAGE 89 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 82 goes to Probability, that given in the being is incorrect which is in most cases, then you would be dealing with a perception system that was rooted in being able to rec- ognize probabilities. Now, given that would be a distraction, it would mean those probabilities are unlikely to reach any kind of fruition. And of course, whatever is going to be the case rela- tive to the design, in this particular case a Projector, so you're going to end up with a lot of bitterness and a lot of early bitterness in terms of what you think you're look- ing at. Remember that what you're looking at is feeding your conceptualizing. It's constantly bringing it that information. Everything has to be seen in Relationship to the Surface So, what we're looking at is seeing Possibility within the context of the 2nd line of the 19. We know the 19th Gate is a gate of Need. Remember, everything has to be seen in its relationship to the surface; otherwise, you could never synthesize. What we know about this person is that they are needy, they're desirous; those things are there in the Root Center to the emotional system. The 19/49, and particularly the 19th Gate is a need. It's a need for resources. It's a need for God. It's a need for marriage. It's a need for all kinds of things. It is a very strong pressure of tribal need. So here we have the 2nd line need. Now, of course, the 2nd line need is something that has to be called. This is somebody who is going to have to be called. And eve- rything to understand about a 2nd line is that it will only receive the call that is cor- rect for it. That's what it's designed for. I'm not talk- ing about the homogenized case now. So everything about receiving this call means you're going to have to be in the right environ- ment, operating in that en- vironment correctly. Now, just to digress for a moment, the relationship of the Perspective which locks the Perspective through the Link Node to the vehicle is here, in this case in the 19.4. You can see that we're also dealing with a --- PAGE 90 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 83 different Base. Now, this is The Team Player. Think about that. In order for the call to come to Service, it has to come when the body is in the environment that is cor- rect and that body is pulling it into the team player mode. Environment Determines Who is In Your Life Remember that your environment determines who is going to be in your life. The correct environment for this being is going to bring out that team player, is going to bring out somebody who is going to move in that opportunistic, 4th line networking way, brotherhood/sisterhood. This is going to be a key in that environment in order for them to get that call. You can see it is inherent in the line as well. It eventually will turn its energy to service; it eventually can get that call. So we see that this is another element. If we look at it holistically, we also get to recognize that this [Root-Solar Plexus channels] is an area that builds up a great deal of pressure, that isn't always a pressure that leads to a release that is success- ful. Of course, what we well know about a design like this is that the bridging gates are going to be of enormous importance. In this particular case, the sin- gle bridging gate that is possible through the 12th Gate. There is going to be an enormous emphasis on this design at the psycho- logical level to distort the not-self that is all pointed towards that 12th Gate that can distort the way the con- ceptualizing works. Remember, if this person is pulled to the 12th Gate, is conditioned by that expe- rience, if they're making decisions based on a not-self strategy rooted in that 12th Gate, if that's what's happening, all of this stuff over here [right side of image] you can forget about it. Again, this is really something to understand about the potential of awareness: it comes out of correctness. Keynotes: Possibility, 4th Tone, Right, Projector, 2nd Line So, let's say we're looking at this correctly. We have this being who has Possibility as the way in which they View and they are Right. Not only are they Right, but --- PAGE 91 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 84 they're Right through the 4th Tone and you can see very interestingly that there is a resonance between the internal and the external tonally [image next page]. That's going to actually be quite significant because this enhances the visual aspect of all of this. This is strongly, strongly visual, but it's meditative. That is, it is peripheral; it is taking in information in a way that is very, very broad. In other words, here is the potential to see a tremendous amount of possibility, to see possibility wherever you look. Now, to see possibility wherever you look means that in the genetic continuity of this being, they're a Projector, they have to be invited, they've got a 2nd line. I think there is a 2nd line at the other end. They‘ve got the 2nd line here in the Node, this call that has to come to them. So, all of this possibility, this vast peripheral possibility as is correct for some- body who is Right, they will dedicate their personal resources as a result of external contact. Now, the external contact is only going to be correct if they've been the team player; again, all of these interrelationships are interwoven as well as seeing them in relationship to the chart itself. So what we get to see is that what's natural for this being is that there is this incred- ible plethora of possibilities, but they themselves, given that it's Right, they have no focus. You can see that everything in this is that the focus has to be pulled out. It has to be pulled out by some other. And that's going to bring us back to the envi- ronment because the environment is going to condition that along with the very na- ture of the being. That is, the essential nature of their Type and the fact that they are a split-definition, that the invitation that is going to be correct for them. But let's watch the next step in the movement. Now, I've already indicated that here we have the essential relationship between Perspective and conceptualizing. In that essential relationship, what we get to see is that we have this peripheral possibility View. Again, it depends on what you're looking at, doesn't it? If you're in the right environment, the right environment is going to create that frame through which you'll be able to see as much as you can, possibility, determined by where you are, determined by the environmental correctness. A Necessary Balance between Possibility and Probability Two things: environmental correctness and that you are in the right place and space in that environment through the correctness in the way in which you operate. That's when you begin to truly develop what is a deep, deep clean perceptibility. Now, re- member something that's interesting: Color on the Personality side transfers. We know that. It's not a lock system like it is on the Design side. So, one of the things --- PAGE 92 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 85 to keep in mind about the correctness of perception is that this possibility peripheral wouldn't be correct without a little bit of influence coming in from the probability 5. There are some things that may in fact be probabilities; maybe. The whole point for this being is not to be the other way around, seeing everything as a probability, be- cause they don't want to see things as a possibility only, because a possibility doesn't really mean anything, does it necessarily? Probability is very different. So, there is a necessary balance. The Need to have a Correct Imbalance between the Correct View and the Distraction It's one of the things to understand about View. You always need to have an imbal- ance, a correct imbalance between what is your correct View and what is the distrac- tion. The distraction never goes away. But it's there as a reference point. It's good for measuring. But it can never become more than just that, a reference point. The moment you notice that—of course, this is one of the keys of developing pas- senger consciousness. It is one of those great signposts the moment you notice dis- traction in the way in which you're thinking about things. Remember, the way you think about things is a combination of the way in which your Perspective influences your conceptualizing, along with the other goodies of the not-self mind, because af- ter all, the mind houses all of these things. Ok, let's look at this direct influence here from the 19.2, so basically looking out see- ing all kinds of possibilities and all kinds of possibilities in terms of helpfulness. There is an intrinsic helpfulness, this need to be helpful, but not knowing how to be helpful, needing that helpfulness to be called out because this is inherent in any 2nd line theme. When you begin to really deeply grasp line value, you see how every expression of a line, the written expressions of lines always carry these values inside of them, because of what it is. The Difference between the 3 and the 4 Tonally All right, here we're dealing with something else [see image next page]. To begin with, we see that there is a direct connection. The strongest relationship that is here is the relationship at the tonal level. We know very clearly here that this is some- body who is receptive and this is receptive at the mental level. That's very different from the Solar Plexus receptivity. The Solar Plexus Right is very different in terms of the way we can relate to it. When you're dealing with the Ajna binary tonally and you're dealing with the 4, it's between the 3 and the 4 in the Ajna binary that the mutation took place, so there is still a relationship that exists between them. --- PAGE 93 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 86 What is important about the 4 is that the 4 sees in the inner sense. And basically what that means is that with this kind of capacity to take in information visually, you do not need to take in a great deal of light stimulus in order to capture what is out there. It's one of the things that's so inter- esting about the difference between the 3 and the 4 tonally. For the 3 everything is about focusing. So you have a broad scene and you keep on focusing and focusing and focusing, you go deeper and deeper and dee- per and deeper until you're looking at micro- bes. This is the focusing mechanism. When you get into the 4, the 4 isn't interest- ed in that, which means it doesn't use ener- gy. Think about it. Brain activity to focus; just think about a camera that you may have used and what it takes to focus. Think about brain activity. Think about the focusing mechanism; think about that process of fo- cusing deeper and deeper and deeper. All of that takes a whole load of neural work, a load of neural work. Now, the thing that's so interesting about the 4 is that the 4 isn't interested in using that energy to focus. It uses its neural potential to organize. Everything about the Right way of seeing is that it takes everything in. And everything can be accessible. That is not so for the Left. For the Left, it takes in what's focused, and even the fo- cus that it takes in, unless it keeps on dealing with it, it will lose access to that as well because it's always oriented towards some new focus. Peripheral Seeing — Receptive Conceptualizing Peripheral seeing is actually very, very profound storage. It's not really seeing be- cause the seeing isn't the point, the storage is. And it's this storage that carries this incredible wealth of information, an incredible wealth of information. We're dealing with a Right-oriented mind. In other words, we're dealing with receptive conceptua- lizing. Now, receptive conceptualizing has nothing to do with the way the Left and the strategic of the seven-centered being mind works. The closest we come to it are those examples that have emerged over the last 40 or 50 years that we see as a kind of "aha-cha" moment, the light going off, the sudden- ly something is there moment. This is not a focused process. It's not. This is some- thing that is very much connected with the way in which the receptive mind oper- ates. The dilemma is that we don't really know any receptive minds because, unfor- tunately, they have been so deeply conditioned by the strategic—the school systems and so forth—the way their minds have been conditioned to operate in the way in which it tries to process things. --- PAGE 94 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 87 The Right Mind has to Pay Attention in the Now I notice this with all of my students taking examinations in the college programs, the very special dilemma is inherent for the Right. My practical advice to them is not to study. The whole thing about having a Right mind is you have to pay attention in the now. This is the only way if you're Right. And then it doesn't matter. It's how I've taught my Right-minded son to do well in school. You just pay attention in the now and everything will be there. And it is. This is something that the sooner you grasp that and the sooner you find trust in that, the deeper that opens up all the possibility of what Right-mindedness is. The next thing we're dealing with here is the 64 and the 63, so we are dealing with activations that are in the Head Center, and are defined down to the Ajna; this is de- fined all the way down to the G Center. This is a very, very powerful aspect that always has a voice. And the thing to recognize is that when conceptualizing direct- ly has a voice, there is this tendency to shoot its mouth off. This is a classic exam- ple of a verbal gunslinger. What they say isn't neces- sarily at all what they can do. As an example, in the not- self sense, these are people who can be very, very bitter over the fact that they can't get done what they want to get done. There are things, again, always to be aware of. When you're looking at somebody see them, so that you can put the information into context. And you're always seeing two beings. You're seeing the not-self being; you're seeing the possibility of what the true self brings and, ultimately, what the two of them mean living together because it's not like one dies. The not-self becomes your wisdom companion instead of your sha- dow. It becomes something very, very beautiful and enriching in your life. All these things have to be seen in their perspective. --- PAGE 95 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 88 The Personality Earth: 64.6 All right, so let's take a look here for a moment. I want to look specifically first of all at the Earth. The grounding of the Personality, the stability of the Personality is going to be dependent first of all on: what is the View? This Personality is going to feel comfortable when it's getting all kinds of stuff moving in. This is its comfort place. Now of course, if it's been raised strategically, this is not a comfort place at all, because as the stuff is pouring in they're trying to pretend that they're strategic and they're trying to focus on this stuff that is coming in instead of it just letting it flow in and watch it with attention, because that is always their key. So, the grounding, this grounding based on all of this stuff, what do we get? We get the mental gift of enjoying the confusion and its diversity of data. Isn't that interest- ing? I love the way genetic conti- nuity works. It's so pretty, isn't it? Here's somebody who has this possibility peripheral, all of this stuff. And here is the possibility to enjoy all this confusion and di- versity. So we know something about this mind. We know if it's being truly receptive, we know that if it's going to display awareness, what we're going to get from this mind is the joy of the "this and that," because this is a mind that can rec- ognize an enormous amount of material. Also with all this diversity of data, it is easy to lose perspective. Now, if you deconstruct this line, it's pointing directly at what happens when this Right-ness pretends to be Left, because it's right there. Genetic continuity—remember that lines are molded by what's underneath. It's how a line is given its feeling, its expression. There could be other things underneath this line; we all know that. But not all of them would sit so beautifully and so nicely. It doesn't always work that way. But whichever way it works, you get to see very clearly what the mechanism is so that you can recognize it and it enhances your pas- senger consciousness. The Personality Sun: 63.6 When we look at the Sun itself, we move over from the abstract side to the logical side and the logic of leaving doubts behind, or the illogic and the potential obsession with old suspicions and doubts. Now, this theme of leaving things behind, this is somebody, I think they even have the line, I have to check, no, they have Retreat, the Nodal configuration on the other side. I thought there was another activation there. The way in which this mind is going to conceptualize is we know a number of things. It's going to have problems leaving those doubts behind. Now, the doubts can only --- PAGE 96 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 89 arise from the Perspective. And the dilemma in the Perspective can only arise in re- lationship to the other. These are collective. It's always in relationship to the other; always. Any collective activation that you have is always about some "us" or "we." It's its very nature. One of the most fascinating things about the collective is that every aspect of the collective is social. Even the tribe that we think of as so deeply connected has two social channels: the 59/6 for reproduction and the 40/37 for community bonding. That's it. The most common circuitry in the bodygraph is individual and yet there is only one channel in the individual, the 12/22, that is a social channel. Everything else is not. It's the collective that gives us our social nature. If you have a collective mind, it thinks in terms of the other. Oh, it may be the other in relationship to you, but the reality is that it's collective in the way in which it operates. It also means it's caught in time. It's caught between the past and the future, which leads to anxiety about, well, where are you. So, this is somebody who perceptually is set up to be called to service and to the see the possibilities. Remember, to be called to service doesn't mean they have to be of service, that seeing things in this framework according to their View, this is what is providing the conceptualizing with the possibility of seeing the way in which things can be conceptualized and turned into outer authority and expressed. To be able to express those possibilities of service: ―Look, something could be done about that couldn't it, and something could be done about that, couldn't it?‖ There are many ways in which that can be fleshed out. But the way in which it gets conceptualized, it gets grounded as a pleasure, the pleasure of dealing with all of that diversity. And yet, at the same time, this is a being who is waiting to be called. The Need to be Dedicated to the Form Principle The other thing is that we're dealing with a tripartite life process. Let's go back a moment. There is a tremendous amount of chaos in a life like this, a huge amount of chaos. So, when you're looking at a being like this you have to see them very carefully. That is, again I go back to my constant warnings about the only way you can really fulfill the potentials of awareness is that you've got to be deeply, deeply dedicated to the form principle, deeply dedicated to the form principle. It is the only way you can begin the confrontation with the mental system because that is the real confrontation. It is the ultimate confrontation. What I refer to in the beginning as not being disconnected, but being absorbed, being absorbed as an au- dience is absorbed in that incredible suspension of disbelief that takes place when you're taken over by the drama. This is what awareness is about. It's being taken over by the drama. It's not being the drama. It's not being in the drama. It's being wrapped in it so that one can perceive at all of these various levels and one can truly be aware about what it is to be in form. What else is there? --- PAGE 97 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 90 You don't get to that magic unless you bow down to the form principle. Everything that is going to be made possible, all of this over here [Personali- ty] begins here [Design]. It has to. Yes, you can do all kinds of work and experimentation with the development of passenger consciousness, the techniques that Rave Psychologists are trained to be able to provide and help people with. And ob- viously, it's going to make a difference to the rel- ative awareness of the human being, particularly relative to those beings around them. But the real fulfillment of this process is differentiation. That's what this is about. It's about differentiation. My goal is not half-differentiated people. Again, I think that's terrific, if you know what I mean. I do. But that's not the goal. The goal is differentiation. The goal is uniqueness. At this level you get enough keys that you can see the signposts. See- ing the signposts is the way in which you develop your passenger consciousness. I don't know what class that was, maybe it was this one that I mentioned it in—I'm a film buff. It's why I often use the theatrical analogies. In the early 20s when talking pictures were first emerging out of silence and audiences were taken in in a totally different way, the beings on screen seemed, even in the limitation of the presenta- tion of that era, to really be alive for them. The Suspension of Disbelief There was at that time a whole burgeoning school in psychology. It was taken deep note of by many. One, I think was German. His name was Siegfried Kracauer, fun- ny enough. I remember reading one of his main treaties, I can't remember the name of the thing. I was young; I was in my early 20s. I don't think any impressed me as much as what he described as the ―suspension of disbelief.‖ He coined the phrase and it's one that's been used over and over again to describe this phenome- non of what it is like to be in a theater and to be simply pulled out of your life entire- ly, totally lost in the drama, even though you know it's not real. Everything inside of you is responding to it. You feel it. You relate to it. This is what passenger consciousness is all about. It's not about being the actor in the role. It's about being the audience, but not just the audience. There are all kinds of audiences. It's about being really there, right there with the performance, totally taken in. It is something magnificent to watch. And then you see it. Oh, then you see it. You see yourself expressing your "this and that." There's all this "this and that" in anybody's design. --- PAGE 98 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 91 Binary Separation Before I get carried away, I want to show you something to close out this to give you something really juicy and nice to think about. It's a very different phe- nomenon over here. Over here we have a pure binary [Design side] and in the binary there is a relationship, the rela- tionship is rooted in the material and all of the things that we discussed in that relationship to the physical body and its environment. In that case, the relation- ship between the Link Node and the in- frastructure is one in which this has a relationship to everything that is there. Then we move over here and we get to binary separation [Personality side]. And it's binary separation, even though it's the same one, too, it's binary sepa- ration because in this case they're on either side of the central point rather than in one of the laterals or the vertic- als. They're in a diagonal relationship to each other so they are in separation from each other. That means they don't connect to each other. Remember how interesting it was that we got to see what determines the Per- sonality View was the peripheral possibility, to get that peripheral possibility out there. And on the other side, the orientation to the other is the need for the team player. But what happens here is that there is a breakdown. This being is not connected to being the team player. Now, isn't that beautiful, if you think about it? It's actually, at the deepest level, at the Link Node level expressing what is here in the design. This person, until they are inte- grated with the others, that's on- ly when anything becomes possi- ble for them. It is their whole story. They are a split-definition. They are a Projector. They need --- PAGE 99 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 92 to have that correct ‗others‘ who are going to be there in their process. And all of that can be seen at the deepest level going all the way upward. Type is to Form as Variable is to Awareness When I always make those comments that the secret is just Strategy and Authority, well, Strategy and Authority is a fantastic thing, because it's Strategy and Authority that will align this. Again, we're dealing with two things. It was a little comment in my little thought for the day for you at the beginning of this class when I said that ‗Type is to form as Variable is to awareness.‘ We're dealing with different things here. What we're dealing with at one level is with the form principle [body- graph] and how the form principle has to operate. When the form principle operates correctly, that's when the awareness potential be- gins to arise. And that the only way in this binary separation that there is going to be a relationship here between those Possibilities and be- ing the Team Player is if somebody else initiates it and steps into this place [binary separation] as a condi- tioning element. You notice I say "conditioning element." It doesn't mean that's incorrect if they're brought in correctly, if they come by invitation, and so forth. It's just about understanding the way each and every one of us has unique methodologies for the way in which we process. What we haven't looked at here is the nature of the information that is going to be ac- cessible, the way in which the lunar and planetary square is going to op- erate, the resonance and harmonies that are going to be there, experien- tially the way that's going to work, whether the Personality is going to be oriented to the mundane, or whether it's going to be more oriented to being out of the box, sort of, out of the diagonal in this case. --- PAGE 100 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 93 The Magic of the Bodygraph So, there are all of these elements. It's what's so exciting about the upcoming Holis- tic Analysis program. One of the delights that this illustrates is that no matter how deep down you go, you will find it in the surface because it's all there. Obviously, the details aren't all there. But the surface is an amazing thing. That's why to be a professional in Human Design, this is where you have to master [bodygraph]. Eve- rything else you can learn, all the details, all the bits and pieces. But if you see the whole being, you will see how the pieces fit in. And when you see the whole being, you can look at the dilemmas of the whole being and go deep, deep down inside and find signposts that can be of enormous value in aligning that being to what is correct. It's very beautiful. It's always here. It's the magic of the body- graph. It really is. It's there on the surface. All right, we've come to the end of our process. I wanted to give you a chance to say goodbye or ask a question or whatever the case may be in our last few minutes. So, I open it up to you. I hope to see a few of you here in Ibiza. That would be fun. Q & A Being Different Comment from Kumud: Well, I've been playing with this a bit. But as a signpost I've definitely had a revelation. My Prime Node is the 32.6 and I've spent my whole life camping and feeling cheated very quickly which has such genetic continuity with everything in the Projector. So I think I just wanted to say I haven't gotten to the Base understanding. But just at that level, it stops me thinking I'm weird. So, I'm fascinated by this information. Ra: Anything that can stop you thinking you're weird. Actually, I tend to consider those kinds of terms to be compliments. I like weird and freak and oddball. Suppo- sedly, now I can be eccentric because I've gone past the fool stage. It's why we're here in the first place. The worlds that most of us grew up in, there was always something about us that was different. Most human beings know that and just try to bury it somehow under some kind of mask, or whatever. It's what this knowledge is here to nourish. It's here to nourish being different and being dif- ferent attracts all kinds of descriptive commentary. Environment Question from Kumud: Well, just also in terms of the Prime Node and environ- ment, I feel lucky to have Hardscape because it's so tangible, in some way, a cave, whereas as soon as I get to kitchens, I know it deconstructs, but still as for artificial --- PAGE 101 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 94 shores, it just seems so huge as a—well, I'm possibilities, also—any comment about that? Ra: I think that one of the things you've all noticed in your education as we have moved through any of the layers, we're looking at evolutionary processes; those 1s always moving upwards to a 6. Everything about the 6 is a level of sensitivity. One of the things you notice about the environment in terms of the lower Colors is that they're very, very physically obvious, if I can put it that way. They're in-your- face environments. They're like the food of the lower Colors, the Conditions. It's right in your face with "You've got to; it's this." It is so very, very different from the upper Colors. It is a totally different way of reacting to the environment and a total- ly different way of sensing, taking in the essence of the environment. Comment from Kumud: I think that in terms of working with somebody and look- ing at their—to try to make this meaningful is I observe others—I just find it more difficult when I'm dealing with someone that has one of the higher Colors because it's more difficult to pin down as the differentiated environment they need. I can't tell, really. Ra: I didn't catch the last of that, it broke up. Can you give me that again? Question from Susan: Is there enough room at the Ibiza event to have our own auric space during the talks? Ra: And as to your question Susan, yeah, usually there are spaces where you can find a certain amount of auric protection. It's a very big space. It's not filled up. So, yeah, it's possible. Comment from Kumud: Well, in terms of just studying this information and how it works for people, when it gets to the upper Color environments, I'm lost in terms of applying it. In fact, I started with quite a difficult example. He has the 54.4 for his Prime Node, which doesn’t have much description in the line. And kitchens, and wonderfully continuous because life is always cooking, but still I just can't tell if it's the right environment. He's always in cooking places. Ra: But I didn't get his environmental Color. What is his environment? Question: Kitchens, the 3rd Color. Ra: Maybe I lost you somewhere. I'm confused because you were talking about up- per Colors and now you're in Kitchens. If he's in Kitchens and he's cooking, every- thing is ok. Comment from Kumud: Ok, I think I'm just so much at the beginning of this. It begins with Kitchens. By the time I'm at artificial shores, I'm completely unable to give a clear delineation of a correct environment because it's so open. And maybe this will all fall into place. --- PAGE 102 --- LESSON 5 Base Orientation and Analysis II Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 95 Ra: Yeah, Kitchens certainly isn't open. Kitchens, you can deconstruct that into any place where anything is being transformed—manufacturing, any kind of transforma- tion that takes place in a kitchen, so to speak. There are all kinds of these environ- ments and they don't have to have kitchens in them. They're where most people in the urban landscape make their living. That is, in office complexes and all of these other things. All of these can be deconstructed into various aspects; not only that, it can be further deconstructed into those people who should be working at the top of the building and most people working at the bottom of the building and all these other things. What's important about the environment and the only way you can really offer envi- ronment to anyone, particularly somebody who doesn't have much of an education in Human Design, is to let them know what environment is correct for them, and let them experiment with that environment and any other environment they like. The thing for them to begin to understand is that if they experiment with it, they will be- gin to see there are advantages to it. It doesn't matter whether you're comfortable with how many levels of explanation you have, because I think that is something, particularly with the upper Colors, that is not important. It isn't. Low ground, high ground, the shores—and as I've illu- strated, because I think for me it was the most profound example in my life of envi- ronment. I was born on an island. I have natural shores. I have lived almost exclu- sively on islands my entire life. The only time I didn't was a time of the greatest physical disaster that I have ever had to deal with at every kind of level, complete mess; unlike anything I had ever experienced in my life. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. So, the thing that's important is simply that it's put into their consciousness. Just put it into their consciousness. Let them deconstruct it. I mean that seriously. In the same way that I try to provide students with many deconstructed values, and I know a lot of work was done by students working together and pooling all of them and thinking about all the possibilities. I think this is the experience that is so enriching for somebody, that you can give this kind of information to. For them to begin to make sense out of it or understand it or know it, whatever the terminology, in their own way, because it will resonate in there somewhere. It will. And again, at this stage we're doing a lot of research. We're watching. As I well know, you're good at the Projector job of looking at the other, so it's something to watch. Give them the information; wait for the feedback. Base Theory Question from Kumud: Yes, that helps a lot. I can recognize what you're saying. One other question, because I'm really enjoying this new information except I'm just leaving the Base information aside. I keep wanting to go back and recheck the origi- nal Base series you gave, but it's still so impersonal. I don't feel like it yet. And I --- PAGE 103 --- ADVANCED MECHANICS II Post-Graduate Studies in the Human Design System Advanced Mechanics II is a program of the International Human Design School (IHDS) All Rights Reserved. Copyright 2008 Jovian Archive Corporation 96 suppose there will be a timing. Are you going to—will it always be impersonal, or are you just going to make it more relevant for us in some way? Ra: [laughing] That's really cute. I'm still laughing. Base Theory, like anything else, like any component, Base is going to be part of the Holistic Analysis process. What you've seen here, that is, over the last couple of weeks in particular, what you're looking at here, and if you go back to History of Geometry which is the second Base course that was done. The first was Base Theory. In History of Geometry, if you look at the digital book, I think it's much easier to catch up on that. We are looking at components that are significant. The reality is that without the Bases, we don't have the way in which we can look at and distinguish the positioning of the Link Nodes and all of that. We're already at this level incorporating the Base Theory into the analytical structure. The next step is to see the relation- ships as we looked at last week in terms of the way in which the binary operates, in this case looking at binary separation. There are obviously oth- ers that I covered in History of Geo- metry. That is, all the variations of the way in Base Orientation operates. In Holistic Analysis, I will actually show you not just what it means tech- nically in this sense, so that we get this binary separation here that is ac- tually leading to a problem in the Per- sonality that will actually feed the not-self to enter into relationships that may not be healthy. There are all kinds of places for me to take any piece of this information and bring it up to the surface. I'm going to show you through that one-year pro- gram how to integrate all of this information into the synthesis of the surface. The most important thing for anyone who's going to be taking part in Holistic Analy- sis is your comfort level with the bodygraph. See this bodygraph, because this is where everything is. It really is. This is where everything is. And anything that we're going to be able to do with the information below, anything, is going to be rooted in our ability to be able to see the surface, because after all, that's what it all leads to. In that sense, for me Holistic Analysis is the completion of my work. That is, it is the full integration of the science into an analytical system. So, from that level it's very exciting. Anyway, to all of you, I want to thank you for participating in this program. If you're not going to be here in Ibiza, tune in on the radio or take a course if you feel like it on the television, but send your energy along anyway. And yes, until next time, all of you take care.
